This position is not about teaching trainers how to work out and exercise.The DOF is a New Member On-Boarding Specialist, working directly with the General Manager on tour practices and performing F1s. You will meet with each new member and sell personal training programming through our customized software.Key ResponsibilitiesWork daily on filling the schedule for training sessionsMatch the trainer's availability and book sessionsRender daily completed training sessionsSubmit weekly trainers' payrollOversee and track bad debt and payment cancellationsA focus on key operational functions that create a strong and sustainable PT presence in the club includes:Talent acquisition by calling personal trainer applicants to pre-screen for interviewsPromoting personal trainer bios for the company websiteStaff participation in Personal TrainingOrdering uniforms and collecting payments/order formsCollecting Trainer monthly reviews on conduct and filing write-upsConducting monthly employee performance reviewsDaily New Member Calls and Emails using club PT EmailEmailing and calling members who did not book appointmentsEveryday: New Member Calls, Texts using the club simple-texting platform, and Emails using club PT Email. Follow up with members who did not book consultation appointments and confirm all client weekly training appointments with trainers. Set aside time each week to interview new trainers along with the General Manager.The Director of Fitness must have good communication skills, people skills, confidence, and NOT be afraid to ask for a SALE!Overview of Primary ResponsibilitiesThe general scope of your responsibilities is as follows; however, they are subject to modification for the success of the department and club.Sales: The Director of Fitness works directly with the General Manager on front desk staff training to achieve a 70% appointment set rate each month of qualified member PT prospects. Ensure club managers drive existing member traffic through personal training sales at a rate of 2% each month along with promotions and in-club events.Human Resources: Interviewing, hiring, training, and terminating as it relates to Personal Trainers. Some of this will probably be done in conjunction with the club GM; however, the direct supervision of the PTs is the direct responsibility of the DOF.Team Performance: The DOF is responsible for ensuring that all PT Department team members adhere to PT protocol, correcting and coaching when necessary. Provide ongoing motivation and encouragement, monitor closing percentages and sales to ensure that the department is on track to achieving or surpassing its goals, and substitute PTs as needed.Scheduling: The Director of Fitness is responsible for ensuring that all PT Departments are scheduled sufficiently to meet demand. At times, the DOF may be required to deviate from their regular schedule to accommodate any unexpected situation. Typically, successful PT programs are constantly adding team members as the program grows, meaning scheduling is typically fluid.Administrative: The Personal Training Program is a multi-layered program that requires continuous monitoring. The DOF will learn all aspects of the reporting as they pertain to the Personal Trainers. General Gym Membership drives the entire process; therefore, communication between the DOF and GM is essential for success. The DOF will learn the reporting from the GM and will have unlimited support in all areas of operation. The DOF will be responsible for all functions related to the Personal Training Program software (DataTrak) and provide any data the GM needs to reconcile the daily, weekly, and monthly club reports.Payroll: The Director of Fitness is responsible for ensuring that the Trainer payroll is provided every Monday to the GM for processing. Prior to providing this information, the DOF verifies that all aspects related to PT's session counts are audited for accuracy.Member Interaction: Since the fitness industry is a service business, the relationship and interaction between members and our staff are crucial. The DOF is expected to interact with our membership to ensure their satisfaction with our team and programs, which may include digital member surveys.Miscellaneous: The Personal Training Program has many tasks that need to be accomplished. We expect the DOF to either assist with or take the lead on them, such as assisting with program marketing and producing trainer biographies. As part of our management team, we expect the DOF to lead by example and assist wherever needed.Secondary Responsibilities: Act in the best interest of overall club operations and help out wherever needed to maintain a happy client base. Duties may include club walk-throughs checking on equipment and facility conditions, touring guests, selling general gym memberships during downtime, and helping at the front desk.Schedule: Director of Fitness (DOF) Role Hours - Split Shifts (Monday to Thursday: 9am - 12:30pm then 3pm to 7pm), Friday 9am to 1:30pm. PT Hours: Schedule up to 20 half-hour sessions with clients outside of DOF hours and responsibilities.Compensation: Salary: The hours devoted exclusively to your role as Director of Fitness will fluctuate and will be determined by the needs of the program at any given time. For a general guideline, we envision that needs to be in the 30 - 35 hour per week timeframe.Commissions and Bonuses: Achieving sales goals drives successful programs, and the Personal Training Program is no different. The DOF position is performance-based; the more you sell, the more you make. Programs and commission structures are subject to adjustment based on facility needs and performance.Conditions of Employment: To be considered full-time, an individual must have established a consistent 35 hours per week schedule.
