Waldorf University is seeking a
Director of Food Service. Reports to the Vice President of Plant & Ancillary Services. Hours vary based on scheduled events and staffing schedules, but include evenings and weekends as needed. This is a 12 month, benefit eligible position. Ideal candidate will be energetic, able to motivate staff, be creative, have the ability to improvise, and be service minded.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Operational Oversight of All Aspects of the Campus Dining Program
- Oversee, hire, and supervise the training of all dining staff to enforce adherence to policies and procedures for safe and proper food handling and use of the facility equipment, building and grounds.
- Coordinate and schedule assignments of team members and act as the point person for the department with students, faculty, staff and community.
- Coordinate catering, events and camps schedules, communication with partners and community, field information requests from outside users.
- Help develop and implement evolving policies and procedures as the programs grow and evolve with the changing needs of the clients.
- Program Management - Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the dining program on campus, facilitate events to their safe and successful conclusion, coordinating the needs of the user, facilities set up staff, housekeeping staff, equipment and inventory management and training, and all other aspects of the program.
- Schedule Management - Oversee the operational schedule for the program, resolving issues between users and partners, coordination with regular staff and student workers.
- Building and Equipment Management - Oversee and coordinate daily operation of building, equipment, coaching staff in the safe and efficient operation as needed, problem solving solutions and developing policies and procedures as usage evolves and grows.
- Budget Management - Able to assist in the development and adherence to budget guidelines needed for successful operation of the program.
- Catering and Events - Work with clients and staff to promote and execute the safe and successful outcome for clients and partners.
- Communication - Ability to communicate and coach with students, staff and partners in a positive way meaningful way.
Qualifications - 3 to 5 Years of Experience in Foodservice Management, Degree Desired
- Budgeting and Cost Management Experience
- Positive Attitude, Willingness to work and the understanding of Food Service in this environment.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50lbs to waist level or a shared weight of 100lbs. Position is very physical requiring bending, pushing, pulling, climbing, walking, and will be in contact with chemicals used for cleaning
- Good Driving Record
