The Director of Gang Task Force and Investigations is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of gang-related investigations, narcotics, and task force operations. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in law enforcement, specializing in gang dynamics, narcotics, criminal investigations, and interagency collaboration. The Director will manage a team of task force investigators, coordinate with various law enforcement agencies, and develop strategies to effectively combat gang activity, narcotics offenses, and organized crime within the City of Clarksdale.Key Responsibilities:•Leadership and Management: Direct and supervise the Gang Task Force, ensuringeffective management of personnel, resources, and operational activities. Providementorship, training, and performance evaluations for team members.•Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to address gang and narcotics-related crime, including tactical operations, investigative approaches, and communityengagement initiatives.•Investigative Oversight: Oversee complex investigations involving gang and narcoticsactivity, ensuring thorough and timely completion of cases. Ensure adherence to legal andprocedural standards during investigations.•Interagency Collaboration: Establish and maintain effective working relationships withlocal, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, as well as community organizations andstakeholders.•Data Analysis and Intelligence: Utilize crime data, intelligence reports, and investigativefindings to inform strategic decisions and operational plans. Ensure accurate and efficientinformation sharing within the task force and with partner agencies.•Public Relations and Communication: Act as the primary spokesperson for gang-relatedissues and task force operations. Communicate effectively with the media, communityleaders, and the public to provide updates and build support for initiatives.•Policy Development: Develop and enforce policies and procedures related to gang andnarcotics investigations and task force operations. Ensure compliance with legal standardsand best practices.•Resource Management: Manage the budget, equipment, and resources allocated to theGang Task Force. Ensure optimal use and accountability for all resources.Qualifications:•Education: Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Public Administration, ora related field. Master's degree or advanced certifications (e.g., FBI National Academy,Senior Management Institute for Police) preferred.•Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in law enforcement, withat least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role specializing in gang investigations ororganized crime.•Skills:Proven leadership and team management abilities.oStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.oExcellent verbal and written communication skills.oAbility to work under pressure and handle high-stress situations.oProficiency in using investigative tools, databases, and technology.•Knowledge: Deep understanding of gang structures, criminal behavior, and investigativetechniques. Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in criminaljustice.Work Conditions:•Environment: Office setting with frequent fieldwork, including high-risk situations. May require evening and weekend work, as well as occasional travel.Physical Demands: Ability to handle physical tasks associated with law enforcement operations and investigations.
