Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

We are in search of new talent in the following position:

Position: Director of Government Contracts

(Hybrid Remote Schedule)

The Director of Government Contracts will oversee the billing, budget, and financial analysis functions. The director will be responsible for maintaining financial oversight of grant portfolio of approximately $115M, mainly funded by state and city governments as well as private foundations and individual donations. The Director of Government Contracts will work as part of a team to strengthen the organization's relationships with funding sources. This position supervises the Financial Analysis and Billing teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, plus seven years relevant billing, budget, and financial analysis experience, including at least three years in a supervisory capacity. Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet applications and word processing required. This position requires the ability to successfully manage multiple projects under deadlines.

Director of Government Contracts Principal Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Controller to oversee billing, budget, audit, financial forecasting, reporting, and administrative functions of all contracts.
  • Review, present and provide recommendations on financial information to senior management.
  • Work with management in setting goals and objectives regarding fiscal procedures that align with our organization's strategic plan.
  • Prepare and present weekly cash flow projections.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain internal controls to ensure appropriate grouping and reporting of revenue and expenditures.
  • Work with the Controller to ensure monthly financial statements are produced timely, reviewed, and analyzed.
  • Review allocation methodologies and time studies.
  • Supervise direct reports to ensure accurate and timely vouchering, budgeting, and financial analysis of all contracts.
  • Coordinate the preparation of CFR reporting and related supporting schedules.
