Job Description:

Northwestern State University seeks qualified applicants for the position of Director of Grants & Planning. The candidate must have a broad understanding of the various educational levels of nursing and allied health as related to Grants and Planning. As a member of the Nursing and Allied Health leadership team at Northwestern State University, the Director of Grants and Planning will provide leadership and guidance to faculty and administration regarding grant-funding opportunities appropriate to fulfilling the goals and strategic plans of the College of Nursing and School of Allied Health. Duties:

* Provide leadership and guidance to faculty and administration regarding grant-funding opportunities

* Fulfilling the goals and strategic plans of the College of Nursing and School of Allied Health

Grant Administration & Reporting:

* Monitor and assess available grant opportunities from NSU, local, state and national sources;

* Apprise nursing/allied health administration of grant funding/ writing opportunities;

* Make recommendations related to grant opportunities to Dean, Directors of College of Nursing and School of Allied Health;

* With recommendations of Dean and Directors, establish grant-writing teams specific to recommended grant-writing proposals;

* Lead grant writing-teams in formulating grant proposals;

* Assist individuals who have been approved to apply for grant funding;

* Work with the Office of Sponsored Programs, as well as the Dean to fulfill NSU policies and requirements for grant implementation.

* Monitor grant implementation and budget expenditures to assure compliance with grant and State of Louisiana purchasing and travel guidelines;

* Develop and/or Assist Project Directors/Primary Investigators in preparation and submission of required progress/interim/final grant report.

* Serve as the Project Official for scholarship projects awarded to the College of Nursing and School of Allied Health;

* Submit annual applications and reports as specified by the grantors by deadline;

* Prepare forms for student applications, application review, and award notifications;

* Meet with students to explain the scholarship requirements;

* Lead CON/CONSAH Scholarship committee in reviewing scholarship applications each academic year;

* Work with Financial Aid/Business Office/NSU Foundation to assure scholarships/stipends are awarded through appropriate channels;

* Prepare and deliver appropriate communications with student applicants/recipients and grantors as appropriate.

* Work with NSU's designated Carl Perkins coordinator/Grant Developer to assure compliance with grant regulations and requirements and submit required reports;

* Maintain inventory of grant-purchased items as required by specific grantors;

* Work with Carl Perkins coordinator to prepare and submit required reports.

* Maintain grant records and/or files as required by funding agencies.

Administrative/Academic Responsibilities:

* Serve on College of Nursing and School of Allied Health Administrative Council, Scholarship Committee, and other assigned committees;

* Serve on University Committees as appointed;

* Work with Institutional Research to collect and manage data related to enrollment, graduations and demographics of students in College of Nursing and School of Allied Health as needed to develop proposals and complete required reports on schedule throughout each project period

* Complete preparation and submission of annual reports required by accrediting/approval agencies.

* Assist College of Nursing Dean and Directors in responding to requests from University, Management Boards, and legislatively established Task Forces and Commissions.

* Represent the College of Nursing, at the Deans request, at statewide meetings

* Assist in preparation of communications with external community agencies and alumni as necessary.

* Participate in official NSU functions as deemed necessary by CON or university administration.

* Complete other activities as requested by the Dean of the College of Nursing and School of Allied Health and University administration.

* Fulfill other duties as directed by the Dean, College of Nursing and School of Allied Health.

Evaluation and Planning:

* Evaluate programmatic components related to grant funding and outcomes.

* Collaboratively assist College of Nursing directors and faculty in planning program/student/faculty/curricula improvements and needed changes.

University and Community Service:

* Attend annual required University-sponsored functions each year.
