As the Director of Homeless Services, we are looking for an experienced professional to lead a team in providing compassionate and trauma-informed care for homeless and housing vulnerable individuals in Tompkins County.Your overall essential responsibilities will be the following:Assures adherence by all staff to SJCS mission, core values, guiding principles, business standards, and administrative practices.In collaboration with the SJCS Leadership, develops and accounts for assigned programs, operations, and fiscal outcomes.Provides leadership for shelter and case management operations/activities.Ensures superior quality through implementation of SJCS quality assurance protocols that meet or exceed national accrediting body standards.Responsible for all functions within parameters of SJCS policies and procedures as well as all applicable state/funding/contract and regulatory requirements.Develops, cultivates, and maintains key relationships needed to implement shelter operations that increase the mission impact of SJCS. Engages actively and openly with all relevant parties including individuals served, families and guardians, funders, regulatory agencies, providers, and state associations, SJCS Leadership, and SJCS staff.Partners with the Human Services Coalition and collaborates with the community plan to end homelessness.Works collaboratively with SJCS Leadership to develop and implement annual budgets with an eye to long-term sustainability and increasing net margin. Actively participate in routine budget monitoring meetings for assigned programs with the SJCS Leadership and key managers.Ensures recruitment, hiring, supervision, training, and timely completion of performance evaluations for assigned staff. Provides training, mentoring, and coaching to staff directly, as appropriate.Provides after-hours on-call support of assigned program operations.Maintains a positive image for SJCS state subsidiary and the parent company.Advocates at state, organization, individual, staff, and systems change levels.Participates in professional development activities relevant to position.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.You will catch our eye if you have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:Ability to gain thorough knowledge of St. Johns Community Services policies and procedures;Ability to act as a representative of St. Johns Community Services to the public;Ability to provide 24/7 coverage for program;Ability to learn, model, and teach crisis intervention and trauma-informed approaches.Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of administrative management, and the ability to interpret them to the staff and the public;Extensive knowledge of program practices and procedures;Knowledge of budget preparation and maintenance;Ability to keep all relevant parties informed of all major issues and programs and to recommend changes as appropriate;Ability to supervise, plan, and coordinate the work of diverse staff in order to accomplish departmental goals and objectives;Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, subordinates, representatives from other agencies, and the general public;Ability to use sound judgment when making decisions;Skilled in the operation of relevant computer systems, including hardware and software, and office machines.Physical and environmental conditions include:Work requires no unusual demand for physical effort. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices or meeting rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls. Work environment is a shelter for homeless and housing vulnerable individuals that may be experiencing symptoms/effects of substance use and/or mental health disorders. Ability to travel as assigned/requested.All SJCS employees must:Obtain a valid health certificate to meet SJCS or current funding authority requirements as required. Meet SJCS and the funding authority requirement of criminal background and record checks.Extra credit will be given if you have the following experience, education, and requirements:A bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field. A minimum of 1-3 years direct experience with vulnerable populations. A minimum of 1-3 years of administrative experience that includes the supervision of staff; budget preparation and maintenance; program development and implementation; quality assurance planning, implementation, and auditing is required. Must meet SJCS and funding jurisdiction current requirements for criminal background/records check. A valid health certificate to meet current funding jurisdiction requirements is required.#J-18808-Ljbffr
