Salary: $43,888.00 - $50,000.00 Annually Location : 4800 W 4 Mile Road Grayling, MI Job Type: Full-time Job Number: 21-00138 Division: Student Services Opening Date: 09/30/2024 Description The Director of Housing and Student Life will supervise our on-campus housing facility. The position will additionally work in conjunction with Student Services and other institutional departments to plan activities and engage the student population. The compensatory package for this position includes Housing. DutiesPrimary Duties and Responsibilities*
  • Maintain the housing application process and operational functions of the on-campus housing facilities.
  • Act as the primary contact for campus housing residents, including being on-call outside of regular business hours.
  • Guide the development and execution of residential life student programming including intramural sports.
  • Serve as a conduct officer, track handbook violations, and maintain records.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards, as well as institutional policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with academic departments and student services to support students' academic success and personal well-being.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of students with varying abilities and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Manage housing preparation for summer camps, conferences, internships, and programs, etc. when applicable.
  • Require a regular work day with additional responsibilities in the evenings, on weekends and on college break days as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor within the scope of this position.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Two to Four Years of Experience in Student Services, Housing, or a Related Field.
  • Demonstrated leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive and effective relationships across the campus and community.
  • Relate successfully in one-on-one and group situations with persons representing diverse social and cultural identities and interests.
  • Experience in program planning, assessment, and development.
SUPERVISION - Works under the general supervision of the VP of Student Services ATTENDANCE - Individuals in this position are expected to be generally available during the normal business hours of the college throughout the calendar year with additional responsibilities on evenings, weekends, and during college breaks, as needed. (On-Call) WORKING CONDITIONS - Conditions are those of a typical office environment, requiring frequent oral and written communication with students and colleagues, the ability to enter data and written communications in electronic format in a timely manner, and mobility to be present and communicate with students, their parents, and fellow professionals at appropriate college and regional functions. Occasional travel between instructional sites is required, and may involve travel after dark, and in inclement weather.
