What you will be doing:
Under the leadership of the city manager, the director of human resources is responsible for the administration of all human resource functions including recruitment, compensation, benefits, performance management, organizational development and training, employee relations, worker compensation, safety and wellness programs, employee events and recognition, employment practices and procedures and Human Resources Information System (HRIS). As a key member of the City's leadership team, the director of human resources understands and supports the mission, vision and strategic plan of the City and ensures the workforce is aligned with those goals.
The ideal candidate will have sound knowledge of state and federal regulations affecting all human resource activities and maintain compliance with those regulations. This position plays a key role in the development of organizational policies and directives and provides strategic direction for human resources programs and the employee merit system.

Requirements
What you bring to us.
This work requires advanced knowledge of human resource principles and practices. Knowledge is acquired through four years of college resulting in a bachelor's degree plus postgraduate work in personnel, business or public administration. Possession of a master's degree and/or SPHR preferred.
A minimum of five years of supervisory experience and a minimum of 10 years of professional HR generalist experience is required.
Must live within the City Limits of Lee's Summit or establish residency within 12 months of hire
