The Director of Human Resources provides strategic leadership to the organization to support business objectives and drive key HR initiatives in the areas of recruitment/retention, performance management, training and development, rewards and recognition, and employee/labor relations.

The Director of HR reports directly to the Head of Human Resources. The Director of HR has three direct reports: HR Manager, Talent Recruiter, and Human Resources Assistant/Coordinator.

This is a full time, office-based position, located at the MJHS Menorah Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care (Manhattan Beach - 1516 Oriental Blvd Brooklyn, New York 11235 United States ). The expectation is to be onsite 5 days a week.

Responsibilities:

* Takes the lead on resolving employee relations matters; coaches and guides managers in handling of issues affecting employee performance and business effectiveness.

* Is knowledgeable and understands labor agreement(s) and their applicability with facility operations and individual employee matters.

* Investigates and prepares reports, documents, and other materials for labor management meetings, contract negotiations, grievances and arbitrations, unemployment hearings, and employment law cases in collaboration with senior HR leadership and legal counsel. Conducts investigations, recommends approaches to defense, identifies, and prepares witnesses, and assembles and prepares statements, documents, reports, and other materials as appropriate in consultation with senior HR leadership and legal counsel.

* Provides leadership in the area of recruitment. Responsible for developing a talent pipeline, utilizing cost effective and efficient sources; interviewing, participating in the selection process, and recommending quality hires to management.

* Develops, recommends, and implements HR policies and procedures that meet the organization's needs and comply with government and regulatory requirements. Provides interpretation of policies, practices and procedures to both management and staff.

* Participates and assists in training and development activities including onboarding and orientation programs. Assists in identifying training needs, researches and prepares materials, and presents or facilitates sessions as appropriate.

* Works with benefits team to manage leaves of absence, worker's compensation and other benefit related issues affecting managers and staff.

* Develops, builds and ensures a collaborative relationship with Union Officials/Delegates to facilitate productive Labor Relations.

* Takes responsibility for facilitating and coordinating recognition events, meetings and other employee-related activities.

* Manages performance of direct reports. Provides orientation, coaching, training, and development. Takes corrective action when necessary.

* Utilizes corporate services resources as appropriate.

* Ensures appropriate staffing and resources to support department/agency services. Monitors productivity throughout the year and participates in annual budget preparation.

Qualifications:

* BA/BS in Human Resources or related field.

* Minimum of 7 years Human Resources generalist experience required, including at least 3 years in a management role.

* PHR or SPHR certification is preferred.

* Must have strong recruiting and employee/labor relations experience.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills are essential.

* Strong computer skills with ability to use MS Office applications including Power Point, Word and Excel.
