Position Overview:

Lansing School District 158 is seeking a dynamic, visionary educational leader to assume the position of Director of Human Resources starting during the 2024-2025 academic year. This position will serve as a member of the Central Office Administrative Team overseeing legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, best practices, and long-range strategic planning. Successful candidates will demonstrate professional competencies with personnel, salary, and benefits administration; employee recruitment, hiring, classification, and retention; labor relations; staff education and training; reporting and legal compliance; preparing and maintaining confidential employee records; collaborating with the Board of Education, staff, attorneys, and other stakeholders; utilizing current best practices and technology in human resources; performance, risk, and data management; and sustaining a high level of visibility throughout the school district, community, and larger profession.

Qualifications:

Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and communication skills - verbal and written.

Strong leadership, management, supervisory, and technical skills including evidence-based practices.

Exhibits ethical behavior and understanding of best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Demonstrated experience - particularly administrative - in human resource and/or educational settings.

Respects confidentiality in the workplace, including personnel and student records.

Knowledge and application of current research and educational trends including use of data.

Ability to interpret, evaluate, clarify, and apply policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Preferred Characteristics:

Graduate degree in education, human resources, or related field.

Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with administrative licensure.

Illinois Qualified Evaluator certification for teachers and principals.

Advanced human resources certification (e.g. pHCLE, SHRM, HRCI, etc.).

Mental Demands:

Effective communication (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Frequent district-wide and occasional statewide travel.

Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.

Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling.

Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.

Prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions.

Regular on-site attendance.

Salary/Benefits/Timeline:

This is a 12-month, 260 workday position starting as early as January 16, 2025 and no later than July 1, 2025. Compensation will be regionally competitive and commensurate with education and experience. Certified candidates holding an Illinois PEL with administrative licensure may be considered for the title of Executive Director.
