Position Purpose:

The Director of Information Systems is responsible for leading the hospital's IT strategy and operations, ensuring the effective implementation, integration, and optimization of critical technology solutions, including the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system. The role will focus on advancing IT systems in alignment with clinical and operational objectives, fostering strategic partnerships, and managing the secure and efficient use of the hospital's IT infrastructure.

Essential Functions:

Lead the development and implementation of IT strategies that align with Kahuku Medical Center's broader clinical and operational goals. Drive technology advancements to improve patient care, operational efficiency, and overall innovation within the organization.

Ensure the hospital's IT infrastructure is secure, scalable, and reliable, supporting both clinical and administrative functions. Oversee system security, data protection, and compliance with industry standards and regulations, including HIPAA, HITECH, and GDPR.

Direct and oversee the EPIC implementation process, ensuring seamless integration with clinical workflows, optimization of system performance, and continuous alignment with organizational goals. Collaborate with key stakeholders, including clinical and administrative leadership, to ensure successful adoption and utilization of EPIC.

Manage and develop a professional IT team, ensuring that the department is equipped to meet the organization's current and future technological needs. Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for staff to maintain the highest standards of technical proficiency.

Lead the hospital's data analytics strategy by leveraging EPIC and other data systems to provide insights that inform decision-making, enhance patient care, and improve operational efficiency. Utilize advanced reporting and predictive analytics to drive continuous performance improvement.

Manage relationships with technology vendors and strategic partners. Oversee vendor contracts, performance, and project timelines for IT transformations, including system upgrades, cloud migrations, and the implementation of new technologies.

Keeps current on new developments in information technology, and plans for future upgrades and organizational changes.

Job Qualifications/Experience/Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Finance or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

Professional certifications such as Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP, Project Management Professional (PMP), or Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certifications are highly desirable.

10+ years of experience in data analytics/systems, information technology and with at least 5 years of leadership.

Expertise in systems integration, disaster recovery, data backup, and business continuity planning.

Proven experience in developing and implementing system strategies aligned with business goals.

Proficiency in leading large-scale Information Systems/Tech transformation projects and system integrations (e.g., cloud migration, ERP upgrades).

Experience in overseeing cybersecurity and compliance protocols.

In-depth understanding of IT security best practices and compliance requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, PIC-DSS).

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged period sitting/standing at a desk working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15lbs at a time.
