As our Director of Information Technology, you will have an opportunity to lead a motivated and professional group of team members that provide excellent technology-related services to a variety of stakeholders, including County departments and staff, elected officials, citizens, etc. Currently, the Information Technology Department is actively engaged in several exciting and impactful projects, including:Redesigning the County's websiteUpgrading the UKG/KRONOS Human Resources and Payroll systemEnhancing audio and video technology in the Board of Supervisors' Board RoomUpgrading computer-aided dispatch and Sheriff's office records management softwareUpdating the Department of Community Development's web portal (eTrackiT software) and more.You will not only lead these as well as other technology-related projects, but you will also work with your staff to determine future technology-related priorities and needs for the County.As Director of Information Technology, you will join a dedicated group of senior leaders who are helping to align the Board of Supervisors priorities into action. The incumbent is a Department Head and performs difficult and complex tasks and provides comprehensive leadership and management responsibilities for the Information Technology Department. The incumbent provides innovation and prioritization in developing technology initiatives that support and align with the County's mission and organizational and administrative initiatives.Organization: The Director of Information Technology reports to a Deputy County Administrator and oversees a staff of over thirty (30) employees.Essential Functions:Provides technology leadership by providing organization-wide vision focus and alignment of information technology with the business of the County, engaging in building departmental partnerships for leveraging technology resources, and analyzing and developing strategies that may impact the County.Oversees the development, implementation, and management of an integrated County-wide system of information systems and networks.Oversees the maintenance and enhancement of disaster recovery systems and security systems/controls for the County's computers and network to counter the increasing threats of intrusion and disruption experienced universally.Oversees the development and enforcement of Information Technology policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with technology best practices and regulations (e.g., HIPAA).Performs needs and risk assessments to determine both tactical and strategic plans for maintaining efficient, secure, and updated technology for the County's technology infrastructure.Manages information technology functions by providing effective information systems management, engaging in departmental budget development and budget control, and overall financial management, long-range IT planning to include overall technology-related needs and future purchases, manages departmental staff and hires staff, staff development, employee relations, and other human resource management activities.Develops and maintains good public relations with other department heads, vendors, suppliers, and other Information Technology managers in business and industry.Performs related work as assigned.Working Conditions:A. Exempt: No Compensatory Leave AccrualKnowledge, Skills and Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of information systems and technology and their application in the services of local government required. Ability to work on multiple project topics simultaneously required. Incumbent must have: general knowledge of the functions and operations of County departments; excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; proven leadership skills to build teams that interact effectively; and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Must be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with department heads, end-users, government officials, and vendors.Education, Experience and Training: Bachelor's degree in a related field required with at least eight (8) years of progressively responsible information technology experience, including five (5) years in a supervisory or management position; Certified Data Processor (CDP) or Certified Systems Professional (CSP) or any other technology management certification desired; Experience in the public sector, preferably local government desired - OR - Any equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.Special Conditions:⠢ Criminal Records Check, including fingerprinting⠢ Valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License⠢ Twelve-month probationary period⠢ Work beyond normal work schedule, including call-backRevision Date: November 2024#J-18808-Ljbffr
