Director of Information Technology Salary $77,611.00 - $120,346.00 Annually Location Lawson - Birmingham, AL Job Type Full-Time Job Number 05466 College/Division LAWSON-401020-Academic Computing Support Opening Date 11/06/2024 Closing Date 11/20/2024 11:59 PM Central Campus Location Lawson State Community College DESCRIPTION BENEFITS QUESTIONS Position Summary The Director of Information Technology is responsible for the administration, installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software in a diverse multiplatform server environment, including cloud-based servers, and related infrastructure including telmunications. Participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures ad to institutional values and ensures that standard practices and procedures are documented, aplished, and appropriately maintained. Provides training and technical assistance to all faculty and staff in the use ofputers and technology on campus and site locations. Salary Schedule: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule C2 ( $77,611-$120,346) appropriate placement based on experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Determines information system requirements, project priorities, and system capability. Monitors and performs capacity planning on the servers and related IT environments. Provides reports that forecast needs for hardware growth. Assists with department budget management. Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network. Assists in the development processes and policies to safeguard the privacy of the institutions customers - students and clients - and aid in meeting federal laws regarding private information. Functions in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, supporting and assisting other employees. Develops and maintains installation and configuration procedure. Monitors and assesses performance of mainframe system and network servers; ensures all are performing at optimum levels. Develops standard procedures and schedules for the maintenance of the operating systems. Serves as a project team member to support activities regarding applications that run on the servers. Rmendsputing policies to faculty, staff, and administration; based on input from stakeholders, presents finalputing policies and procedures for administrative cabinet approval. Installs applications, develops system administration scripts, plans version release upgrades and patches. Develops, writes and modifies routineputer programs. Tests and modifies existing or new utility programs and routines. Installs and configures multiple operating systems, e.g. Windows, UNIX, and LINUX, etc.). Completes performance tuning of the servers and backups of systems using an enterprise backup system. Interfaces withputer manufacturers to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of their software and related changes. Researches and rmends innovative, and w possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks, including telmunications and other technology services. Identifies approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale. Identifies opportunities that contribute to the improvement of quality, safety and cost, as well as customer and employee satisfaction. Performs daily system monitoring by verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes by reviewing system and application logs. Verifiespletion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Provides regularly scheduled maintenance on all Application Server platforms (patches/upgrades) and provides security administration and supports the development of processes and policies surrounding server administration. Upgrades and configures system software that supports GIS infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs. Performs periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning. Configures CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required. Applies OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis. Upgrades administrative tools and utilities. Configures/adds new services as necessary. Maintains the systems software at current release levels. Monitors and maintains multiple application server systems including telmunication support. Monitors and reviews application programs to insure the most efficient use ofputer resources. Assists in analyzing test results to detect or explain programming errors or causes of program malfunctions in system software. Maintains college wide directory services. Tracks and documents projects/tasks utilizing ticketing system. Provides technical support for servers and services. Establishes priorities to ensure deadlines are met. Ads to local, state and federal policies and procedures. Provides data and report analysis to support institutional effectiveness Complies with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Lawson State Community College. Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or the College President. Qualifications REQUIRED EDUCATION, STANDARDS, AND TRAINING: Associate's degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution is required. Five (5) years' of directly related experience in planning technology requirements,puter network operations, deployment and installation ofputer-related resources,puter network technologies and the internet are required. At least three (3) years of supervisory experience required. Excellentmunication skills, both written and oral is required. A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution is preferred.
