To support and sustain this growth, Restore seeks an Institutional Giving Director to join its Development Team as a key strategist and contributor to the overall $5.8M fundraising goals of the organization. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), the Director of Institutional Giving will work closely with the CDO to create the strategy to grow and diversify financial support for Restore's annual operating budget. The Director of Institutional Giving will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of the institutional giving strategy, leading and managing the Institutional Giving team and functions, and representing Restore externally with a variety of audiences. The ideal candidate will have: 1) strong experience developing and executing strategies to deepen and secure relationships with foundation, government, corporate, and church partners, 2) deep experience prospecting and securing (via renewed and new funding) multimillion-dollar revenue goals in foundation and government funding for justice-oriented social services, and 3) a passion for managing teams and working collaboratively across departments to drive impact. JOB RESPONSIBILITIESDesign and Execute on Revenue Strategies (65% of time)
- In close partnership with the CDO, develop and manage forward-thinking strategies to 1) raise approximately $3.6 million annually in renewed and new funding with 10-25% growth per year for Institutional Giving (IG) funding, 2) Own proposal, reporting and renewal schedules for all Institutional partners, 3) retain and increase diversity of funding support from current IG partners, 4) identify and acquire new partners with the capacity to make major annual and multi-year gifts, and 5) develop and implement robust stewardship strategies to retain funding partners;
- Design annual operational plan and provide financial forecasting with realistic, yet ambitious, fundraising goals and oversee implementation of strategies to achieve those goals;
- Work with program leaders and senior management to conceptualize and develop proposals for new initiatives;
- Oversee the IG team's development of compelling proposals, reports, and funder communications;
- Collaborate across teams to:
- Create effective and timely IG partner communications, pitch decks, reports, written appeals, and other materials
- Leverage data, impact stories, and insights on trafficking in communications;
- Drive a results-focused, data-driven environment by overseeing usage of Restore's CRM (Salesforce) to track institutional giving prospecting, cultivation, ask, stewardship, IG communications, events, and online fundraising.
Management (20% of time)
- Manage the IG Manager and ensure staff work as a collaborative and supportive team in partnership with the rest of the organization: determining key roles, setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, offering transparent accountability, and ensuring team members have opportunities for growth;
- Lead team members to achieve goals and drive revenue in their areas of responsibility;
- Provide regular development reports to senior leadership.
- Participate in the Restore Leadership team meetings
Develop, Implement, and Maintain Department Operations and Systems (15% of time)
- Become adept at and leverage organizational and department-specific technology, platforms, and software to increase the department's efficiency and effectiveness, including Asana, G Suite, Dashlane, Salesforce, Candid, and Apricot;
- Lead and provide oversight and support to the Institutional Giving Manager to implement best practices and maintain all operations and systems;
- Inspire an environment of continuous improvement to deepen the effectiveness of the department's operations and systems.
Experience
- 6+ years of non-profit Institutional Giving fundraising experience and a proven track record of foundation and government financial partner cultivation and acquisition
- Experience creating and leading the execution of a strategy that met or exceeded its objectives for either an entire organization of comparable size to Restore or for a region of a larger, geographically matrixed organization
- Experience leading a small team in support of development work
- Experience collaborating with or working within a communications team
- Extensive experience overseeing government grant applications and the grant management process
- Understanding of anti-trafficking funding landscape is a plus
- Experience with Salesforce and Asana is a plus
