SUMMARY: Oversees, manages, and maintains an effective internal audit program for all areas of the Bank and its subsidiaries to assure compliance with the regulations of both the Bank and regulatory agencies. This position collaborates with and supports the President/CEO, the CFO, and the Chair of the Board Audit Committee and Board of Directors to meet the organizational goals and objectives. This position manages the Internal Audit staff and is the direct correspondent for external auditors and examiners.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:
* Develop, implement and maintain the corporate-wide Audit strategy
* Create and maintain the Bank's audit schedules with input from the Board's Audit Committee for approval or suggestions for improvement
* Prepare quarterly and annual audit reports for the Bank and its subsidiaries as needed
* Provide consultation to Senior Management and the Board of Directors to uncover and resolve audit findings
* Remain informed on changes in system, operations, and computer applications to implement necessary changes
* Remain current on laws, regulations, accounting, and general auditing practices
* Oversee all audit reporting, report generation, and audit analysis
* Prepare and review all detailed audit reports with the Board of Directors, identifying audit results, business risks and potential impacts
* Responsible for gathering information and report requests directed from the Federal Bank Examiners and external auditors
* Serve as the main point of contact for external audits and examinations
* Develop and maintain a strong relationships with external auditors, examiners, and other third-party auditors
* Evaluate the Bank's accounting systems, internal controls, policies, and procedures, while advising Bank management as to the effectiveness and adequacy of said practices
* Conduct audits and provides guidance to the audit staff in carrying out the approved programs and special audits
* Conduct audits on loan review to ensure credit quality and compliance with the Bank's policies
* Proactively works to identify and report risks to Senior Management
* Work directly with the Bank's Risk Management department to assess risk and adhere to audit policies and procedures
* Facilitate an annual review of the Bank's Internal Audit Policy and the Bank's Risk Management policy
* Consistently review the work of the Company's internal audit partners and ensure they deliver an accurate and effective review of the Company's audit program
* Handles all correspondences regarding confirmation of accounts from outside sources
* Make recommendations regarding improving the Bank's operations and financial position
* Budget all audit related activities
* Complete all mandatory and elective training, including BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) and Anti-Money laundering procedures. Maintain compliance with all appropriate rules and regulations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
* Bachelor Degree in Finance/Accounting or a related field
* Minimum of five (5) years experience in internal audit; audit experience in a banking environment preferred
* Director of Audit must have a strong knowledge of IT controls and IT audits
* Knowledge of Word, Excel, Internet navigation/research, and Outlook is expected
* Ability to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
