Principal Responsibilities:The Director of Jewish Experiences is a change agent. They believe in meeting a community where it is and helping to fulfill its potential. The Director wants to create something new while honoring The JCC's mission and our commitment to delivering experiences that our membership is asking for. The Director designs, manages, and delivers Jewish experiences that engage and inspire all ages by providing the frameworks and tools necessary to celebrate, explore and participate in Jewish life. These programs include a variety of activities with overt Jewish content that bring Jewish and non-Jewish participants together to explore elements of Jewish traditions and cultures such as Jewish education, lifecycle events, arts and culture, hands-on social projects, service learning and much more. Essential Functions
- Create, manage and deliver a year-round calendar of formal and informal Jewish experiential programs
- Design and deliver experiences that engage diverse audiences in celebrating, learning about and participating in Jewish life
- Collaborate with volunteer committees and stakeholders to explore program ideas that address community interests and needs
- Interact with all JCC departments to offer insight on ensuring Jewish culture and traditions are incorporated into programming
- Provide ongoing consultation to The JCC's professional team about Jewish history, holidays and traditions
- Collaborate with The JCC development team to source funding opportunities
- Create and oversee Israeli programming and Israeli in residence programs
- Collaborate with the JCC Marketing department to ensure timely and effective marketing of programs
- Supervise support staff
Minimum Qualifications:Qualifications and Attributes
- Clergy designation preferred (Rabbi, Cantor)
- Knowledge of Jewish history, culture and traditions
- Prior experience in educational, community and/or camp settings
- Passionate for creating programs for children, families and across generations
- Self-motivated, proactive, visionary, and creative
- Manage multiple programs/projects at one time with superior organizational skills
- Passionate about growing Jewish pride and identity and strengthening the Stamford community by engaging all people
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to motivate, inspire and convene
- Able to identify, develop and maintain relationships that further collaboration
- Proven teaching and public speaking skills
Salary:$95,000 - $105,000
