- Our client, a family-owned and operated commercial real estate developer with over 2.5M square feet of anchored retail centers and multifamily properties, is seeking an experienced Director of Leasing with experience in commercial retail property management. This role demands exceptional people skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to elevate and guide a dynamic leasing team. The ideal candidate will oversee all new leasing activities, ensuring strategic growth and optimal occupancy rates.
Responsibilities
- Drive all leasing activities for certain assets from start to finish including identifying prospects, touring prospects, responding to RFP's, drafting letters of intent, spearheading lease negotiation efforts, managing required transaction consents, negotiating earlier tenant terminations, managing required notifications related to tenant encumbrances, etc.
- Research, analyze and make recommendations concerning prospective tenants for assigned shopping centers based on credit/financing impact, tenant mix, and return on investment.
- Pursue national, regional and local tenants within the targeted use categories via regular and systematic canvassing, cold calling, and networking.
- Direct leasing and marketing efforts; review market studies, determine property rental rates, drive fair market rent review process, and implement strategic leasing plans.
- Lead and mentor the leasing team to enhance performance and achieve targets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with tenants.
- Analyze market trends to make informed leasing decisions.
- Assisting with lease administration and/or Property Management, as needed.
- Actively participate in industry forums, conferences and memberships.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in commercial retail leasing with required experience in lease negotiations. Proven track record in managing leasing teams and handling complex lease agreements. Must be able to provide a deal sheet of relevant lease deals led by individual for retail transactions. Requires high-level negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills, as well as an excellent work ethic and commitment to achieving results. Working experience with redevelopment and tenant improvements. Ability to analyze and interpret budgets, leases and related documents. In-depth and hands-on understanding of management systems and processes.
Pay range and compensation package
- 6 figure base salary + generous commission + comprehensive benefits and more. 2 days in the office per week + travel to properties
