The role of a Director of Logistics requires an individual to be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects at once. this person is responsible for overseeing the flow of goods and services throughout the company - from sourcing raw materials to shipping finished products to customers.

The Director of Logistics must ensure that all aspects of this process run smoothly and efficiently. This includes ensuring that suppliers provide quality materials on time, coordinating with internal departments to schedule deliveries, and tracking inventory levels to make sure there's enough product to meet customer and development needs

The Director of Logistics is responsible for the coordination and management of all activities related to the transportation of goods and materials. This includes planning, implementing, and controling the storage, movement, and distribution of goods and materials to meet the needs of the organization. The Director of Logistics must maintain thorough and evolving knowledge of the transportation industry, including the regulations governing the movement of goods and materials. The Director of Logistics also must be familiar with the latest technology and trends in the transportation industry to ensure that the organization's logistics operations are efficient and cost-effective.

Responsibilities

Managing the inventory of materials to ensure there is enough stock of all items needed to complete projects or tasks

Identifying and implementing methods to increase efficiency in the supply chain process.

Coordinating shipping operations, including scheduling deliveries

Establishing relationships with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best prices for materials and services

Ensuring that compliance with all federal and state regulations regarding shipping and transportation is met

Preparing budgets for logistics operations based on projected demand for products or services

Assisting with maintenance of facilities such as warehouses, shipping docks, and storage lots to ensure they are safe and operational

Requirements:
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree is required with experience in logistics, supply chain management and/or a related field
  • Planning schedules, developing budgets, creating goals and determining resources needed for team members to complete their tasks
  • Control inventory by tracking and managing the supply of materials and products
  • Oversee the procurement of materials and products based upon inventory control
  • Oversight of inventory control to track the amount of time certain products are in use and the amount of time they are in storage
  • The ability to convey information to others in a clear and understandable way
  • Communicate with employees, suppliers and customers
  • Build trust, resolve issues and improve workplace morale
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire your team to develop new skills and learn from their mistakes
