Job Description:
Primary PurposeDirect and manage the district's maintenance and custodial operations; maintain physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence; provide students with a physical learning environment that is safe, clean, attractive, and functional. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.QualificationsEducation/Certification/LicensureBachelor's degree in business, facility management, engineering, or a related field preferredHigh school diploma or GED requiredSpecial Knowledge/SkillsStrong leadership and team management skillsExcellent communication and problem-solving skillsComprehensive knowledge of building systems, equipment, and maintenance/custodial best practicesWorking knowledge of cleaning industry work-loading and staffing standardsIn-depth understanding of safety and environmental regulationsAbility to work under pressure and handle emergency situationsAbility to implement policy and proceduresWorking knowledge of applicable software applicationsBilingual skills preferredExperienceMinimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance supervision/management requiredFive (5) years of senior management experience at large organizations with significant numbers of facilities preferredExperience managing multimillion-dollar budgetsMajor Responsibilities and Duties
  • Direct and oversee the effective maintenance, repair and custodial operations for all district facilities and properties.
  • Receive and process wok orders for repair and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
  • Direct and oversee the development and maintenance of written departmental procedures for the maintenance, repair and custodial operations for all district buildings and equipment.
  • Prepare plans and specifications for contracted repair and preventative maintenance of all district facilities and coordinate with the purchasing department for bids.
  • Maintain and update the Long-Range Facility Master Plan with the Director of Facility Services.
  • Develop yearly work schedules for implementation of applicable portions of the Long-Range Facility Master Plan.
  • Implement federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy as they pertain to maintenance and operations.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required in maintenance area.
  • Oversee the preparation and maintenance of all data necessary to process department payroll.
  • Administer maintenance budget and ensure that programs are cost-effective and that funds are managed prudently.
  • Compile budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs.
  • Oversee proper planning and maintenance of necessary inventory and stock control program for equipment and supplies.
  • Initiate purchase orders and bids in accordance with budgetary limitations and district policies.
  • Maintain a current inventory of supplies and parts to avoid delay when reordering.
  • Approve and forward maintenance department invoices and purchase orders.
  • Recommend disposal of obsolete equipment and purchase replacement equipment when necessary.
  • Assign work to maintenance personnel and oversee timely and effective completion.
  • Prepare, review, and revise job descriptions in maintenance and operations department.
  • Evaluate job performance of employees to ensure effectiveness.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise maintenance and operations personnel, and make sound recommendations about personnel placement, transfer, retention, and dismissal.
  • Maintain safety standards in compliance with federal, state, and insurance regulations and develop a program of preventive safety.
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained in optimal operational condition.
  • Perform disaster recovery response and coordination when needed.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
  • Identify and encourage employees who possess leadership qualities and potential.
  • Manage and utilize data effectively to support systemic process and program analysis
  • Manage and utilize policy effectively for maintaining systemic processes and practices.
