Director of Manufacturing position with a 5-year career path to Vice President

Location: New York

Salary: $180,000

Relocation Allowance: $5,000

A $40 million USD packaging company with a dedicated team of 110 professionals, is seeking a Director of Manufacturing in New York.

This role promises a 5-year career path leading to a GM or VP position, providing a platform for significant exposure and professional growth within a global organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive a culture of change, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Direct, administer, and coordinate assembly, fabrication operations, and machine shop activities, serving as a technical resource for the organization's product construction and operation.
  • Champion lean manufacturing practices, including Continuous Improvement (CI), 5S, and Tim Wood Waste Management, to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Foster a culture of safety by demonstrating exemplary safety behaviors and leading teams toward an interdependent safety culture.
  • Oversee all manufacturing aspects, encompassing production, parts management, purchasing, and shipping & receiving.
  • Assess and develop talent, building strong, capable teams focused on technical leadership, manufacturing flexibility, and quality.
  • Collaborate with internal resources to engage in the new product development process.
  • Develop and implement best-in-class processes that lower costs, reduce changeover times, eliminate waste, and drive a continuous improvement culture.
  • Optimize scheduling in partnership with the Supply Chain team to minimize costs while ensuring flawless customer service.
  • Continuously analyze the manufacturing footprint for optimization of product delivery, setting policies and being responsible for costs, quality, and production methods.
  • Clearly communicate the product line vision within the manufacturing organization and guide efforts to achieve this vision.
  • Participate in the annual review process for manufacturing staff and maintain a positive work environment in collaboration with other departments.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant packaging manufacturing leadership experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 5+ years leading all aspects of manufacturing, assembly, quality, and shipping.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Automation Manufacturing.
  • In-depth knowledge of lean production systems and contemporary manufacturing processes is essential.
  • Proven ability in communication, problem-solving, and teaching skills to develop team capabilities.
  • A strong commitment to safety and behavioral-based safety practices.
