Visit York County Summary: Visit York County, SC (VYC) is the destination marketing organization (DMO) responsible for developing an authentic, unified identity for York County, SC. As a DMO, Visit York County's mission is to raise the profile and boost the economy of York County, SC, through tourism sales and marketing while also contributing to the quality of life for our residents.
Position Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and creative Director of Marketing & Communications to join our team at Visit York County. This role oversees advertising, marketing strategy, creative development, website management, media, and public relations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for tourism and travel and a strong background in marketing, public relations, and digital communications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and oversee the annual marketing and communications budget, which includes strategies, cost-effectiveness, and ROI for branding, advertising, website development, collateral materials, and social media.
- Develop and implement a marketing plan to advance the brand's identity, broaden awareness of its marketing assets, and increase the visibility of tourism in York County.
- Manage and mentor the marketing and communications team, fostering professional growth and productivity.
- Establish and maintain the organization's brand identity across all platforms.
- Oversee development of the Visit York County website, destination guide, creative materials, advertisements, media buying, and promotions.
- Track and analyze marketing campaign performances using KPIs, providing data-driven insights to improve strategies.
- Oversee the performance and growth of Visit York County's social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, and Threads.
- Demonstrate and communicate a thorough knowledge of product information, including marketing initiatives, market research, brand strategy, media, challenges, and opportunities.
- Communicate and partner with stakeholders to utilize Visit York County to enhance their marketing and promotion efforts.
- Work with advertising and public relations agencies to create opportunities and develop plans and action steps that will be implemented, managed, and measured.
- Develop and execute new concepts, channels, and partnerships to position the organization as an innovative leader in the tourism industry.
- Builds relationships with media, including local, regional, and national publications, journalists, editors, travel writers, etc.
- Maintains a database of travel writers, influencers, and media contacts to fulfill news and content-worthy press for Visit York County.
- Writes and edits press releases and copy for various media outlets and publications (approve/as needed).
- Participate as an Executive Leader of VYC in the development and execution of VYC strategy, culture, and annual business plan.
- Prepare and present reports as needed.
- Be actively involved in the community and its public organizations, and serve on local boards and committees.
- Other duties as determined by the CEO.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business, or related field.
- Three (3) to five (5) years minimum experience in the marketing and communications field.
- Possess at least three (3) years experience developing and maintaining successful social media channels, paid advertising, and websites.
- Knowledge of the travel and tourism industry preferred; hotel, agency, and DMO/CVB experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft, Google, CMS, design software, and products.
- Experience working with current platforms/technology in the marketing space.
- Must lift to 25 lbs. and transport equipment and materials for use in programs.
- Able to effectively manage time and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to travel and work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
