Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Associates degree in Nursing with current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Pennsylvania and one to two years of work experience in the Human Services industry;
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Pennsylvania and five (5) years of work experience in the Human Services industry;
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License with 3years driving experience and acceptable driving record as determined by Motor Vehicle Report and insurance guidelines.
Essential FunctionsOversees daily operation of the Health Services Department
- Leads a team of nursing staff to provide needed care and follow up on all individuals' medical needs.
- Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and policies and procedures
- Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff
- Completes resident care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing staff
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
- Establishes a compassionate environment by providing support to residents, their families, and direct service staff
- Promotes independence by establishing care goals, teaching and counseling resident's and direct service staff and reinforcing their understanding of disease, medications, and self-care skills
- Provides information to residents and health care team by answering questions and requests.
- Resolves resident needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing procedures, rules, and regulations
- Protects residents and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols, and enforces medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by monitoring confidential information processing
- Maintains documentation of resident care services by auditing resident and department records
- Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions
- On-call responsibilities are necessary to ensure the Health Services Departmentis adequately staffed at all times, and the consumer needs are addressed when necessary.
- Assists with the development and implementation of health service policy and procedures.
- Identifies residents' service needs by on-going monitoring of residents through nursing shift reports, nursing notes and supervision.
- Reviews, interprets and provides written interpretation to supervisor with regard to changes in licensing or health care standards.
- Reviews and approves nursing schedules by allocating resources and ensuring appropriate nursing coverage for the agency.
- Promotes professional knowledge by providing in-service training to nursing staff, direct service providers, families, and residents.
- Establishing rapport and maintaining working relationships with medical professionals, family physician specialist, lab consultants, etc.
- Maintains health services documentation by auditing department documentation and maintaining oversight of agency EHR.
- Covers other areas for Nursing Department when business warrants the need.
- Promotes and follows safety guidelines when performing work.
- Understands internal and external policies and follows employee rules of conduct and performance as set forth by Beacon
- Promotes community awareness by demonstrating responsible, courteous behavior and a positive perception of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Work Environment
- Day Program, Residential, Office and Community
- May experiences exposure to body fluids and the need to provide personal, private care to individuals..
- Work as scheduled during inclement weather conditions.
- Driving is required.
Physical Abilities
- Must be able to lift and transfer 50 pounds using proper body mechanics 6-12 times hourly
- Must be able to carry 50 pounds for at least 20 feet
- Must be able to climb and descend 20 stairs carrying 20 pounds
- Must be able to bend to retrieve an object at floor level 6-12 times hourly
- Must be able to readily change direction while walking
- Must be able to run a distance of 100 ft. 1-2 times hourly
- Must be able to walk a distance of one mile
- Must be able to crouch at the knees 6-12 times hourly
- Must be able to kneel on both knees
- Must be able to drive for a period of one hour 3-6 times daily
- Must be able to stand for a period of one hour 6-12 times daily
- Must be able to sit for a period of one hour 6-12 times daily
- Must be able to push/pull 10 pounds
- Must be able to grasp an object with at least one hand
- Must have at least 20/40 combined vision with or without corrective lenses
- Must be able to hear a normal spoken voice with or without hearing assistance

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations apply to confidential information in all areas of Beacon Keystone Community Resources, Inc. and Beacon Keystone Independent Living.
