OVERVIEW The Director of Nursing will provide vision and direction for the Medical Services Division of Central Counties Services (CCS) with the goal of ensuring high quality care for CCS consumers and a thriving work environment for CCS medical services staff. This will include working closely with the Medical Director to establish goals and priorities, implement plans to achieve them, supervise and support medical services staff, and coordinate with other CCS divisions to maximize interdisciplinary teamwork. GENERAL DESCRIPTION Performs highly advanced (senior-level) managerial work administering the daily operations and activities of an agency's business function, division, or department. Work involves establishing goals and objectives; developing guidelines, procedures, and policies; developing schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving established goals; coordinating and evaluating business function, division, or department activities; developing and evaluating budget requests; and monitoring budget expenditures. Supervises the work of others. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESStaffing
- Provides administrative and clinical support, supervision, training, and delegation to all assigned staff to include nurses, medical technicians, and Prescription Assistance Program (PAP) administrative assistants to ensure compliance and competency.
- Applies the principles, techniques and procedures of Positive Coaching in order to increase collaboration and build job skills, meeting with employees on a scheduled basis, depending on the position at least monthly or quarterly to provide formal coaching.
- Provides recommendations to the Medical Director regarding process improvement and nursing best practice.
- Assists with Texas Peer Assistance Program for Nurses (TPAPN).
- Conducts monthly staff meetings with nursing staff in conjunction with the Medical Director.
- Assists the Medical Director in providing recommendations and maintaining policies and procedures.
- Serves at laboratory director and maintains CLIA waiver certification for each clinic location.
- May assist in engaging with new vendors and contractors, maintaining those relationships, and monitoring for quality, compliance, and value.
Quality Management & CQI
- Assists in analyzing staffing structure and provide any recommended revisions to Medical Director.
- Oversees the recruiting and on-boarding of assigned positions.
- Assists in the monitoring of costs associated with the cost of care and provides recommendation on improvements.
- Participates and presents reports to the Board of Trustees Medical Committee.
Compliance
- Assists in developing guidelines to promote compliance with health-related laws, rules (TAC, Occupational Code), and regulations.
- Oversees the Center's infection control procedures, including reportable events and exposure mitigation
- Responds to and participates in all audits, reviews and corrective action plans, external and internal, as required
- Serves as chair of Nursing Peer Review Committee.
- Participates in all audits as required by internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversees policies and processes for medication supply, inventory, maintenance, storage, dispensing, and destruction.
Service Provision
- Provides direct delivery of services as needed.
- Required travel to clinic sites throughout catchment area, 10% of worktime, company car available for this travel
- Professional Development: This function requires the employee to successfully complete training, maintain competency and complete continuing education as required by professional standards and the Center.
- Completes all assigned tasks within designated timeframe.
- Documentation - This function requires that the employee clearly and legibly complete required documentation. In addition, employee time sheets, travel logs, and other employee and department documentation will be completed as required and within established timelines.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONSExperience and Education
- Minimum licensure as Registered Nurse in the state of Texas. Experience in and knowledge of community health programs and related programs.
- Minimum 2+ years direct care experience, and 2+ years of supervisory/ leadership experience.
- State of Texas Registered Nurse License must be maintained while employed.
