Job Description:
Overview The Director, Nursing Professional Excellence and Quality is responsible for the direction and leadership of operational, financial, and programmatic and employee related activities for Nursing Professional Excellence and Quality. This includes establishing, meeting and continuously monitoring the goals and objectives while maintaining alignment with the strategic goals and objectives for UF Health. While the range of duties and responsibilities is broad and varied, the positions major responsibility is directing the day-to-day operations, budgeting, financial management, and human resource management. The Director works closely with a variety of stakeholders, coordinating the activities of Nursing Professional Excellence and Quality across the enterprise. The Director of Nursing Professional Excellence and Quality serves as the programmatic and operational leader for Quality Professional nursing excellence and is responsible to the Senior Vice President Chief Nursing Officer at UF Health Qualifications Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups Required Education: Master's degree. Specific course work: Master's degree in nursing Preferred Education: Doctorate/ PhD degree Necessary Skills: 1. Develops a team of highly skilled professionals as educators, leaders, consultants, facilitators, change agents and researchers. 2. Provides ongoing support and integrates core education to address regulatory requirements, patient population, professional practice, development of leadership at the bedside, and patient safety outcomes. 3. Develops, coordinates, facilitates and evaluates continuing education and competency to ensure educational process is designed to improve professional practice and the provision of quality care. 4. Accountable for ensuring quality continuing nursing education (CNE) that meets the national standards established by the American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation. 5. Provides leadership on a wide variety of projects and programs related to regulatory requirements, professional practice, education, research, quality/safety, and evidence-based practice. 6. Effectively and creatively addresses the learning needs of novice to expert nurses within both practice and learning environments, including clinical stimulation. 7. Directs a professional nursing climate within the organization to meet the needs of newly hired and incumbent staff. 8. Coaches and mentors team and / or individuals to lead, facilitate and support the organizations strategic initiatives. 9. Embraces meaningful change and fosters acceptance 10. Develops, implements and evaluates educational programs aimed at successful transition of newly graduated registered nurse residents through enhanced critical thinking skills, leadership, communication evidenced-based practice, patient outcomes and professional development. 11. Monitors clinical progress of Nurse Residents in collaboration with primary unit leadership, assigned preceptor and nurse residency coordinator. 12. Manages department budget to align with organizational objectives. Required Licensure/Certifications: Florida RN license Certification from American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Required Experience: 7+ years of nursing leadership experience in a complex, academic medical center with Magnet designation. Demonstrated experience in Magnet designation/redesignation processes. Preferred Experience Expert knowledge of Magnet standards. Supervision: Supervisory responsibility of 30+ employees Budgetary Responsibility: Experience in budget management, change management and process improvement initiatives.
