Job Description:

A health services network in New York City is currently seeking an experienced, licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their staff in the Bronx as their new Director of Nursing - Maternal-Child. In this role, the Director of Nursing - Maternal-Child will be responsible for organizing, directing, coordinating and evaluating the nursing service and nursing education programs of a healthcare setting or diagnostic and treatment center.Responsibilities:The Director of Nursing - Maternal-Child will:

  • Develop, establish and implement the philosophy, objectives, policies and standards of the Nursing Department
  • Organize the Nursing Department to delineate authority, functional responsibilities and lines of communication
  • Determine staffing requirements in relation to patient care standards and develop procedures to maintain an adequate, competent nursing staff
  • Maintain a system of continuing evaluation of nursing service provided for patients
  • Maintain up-to-date policy procedure manuals for all nursing units and evaluates their effectiveness
  • Establish an effective system of clinical and administrative nursing records and reports
  • Direct the preparation of the personnel, equipment and supply budgets for the Nursing Department
  • Direct the development and implementation of orientation, training and continuing education programs for nursing personnel
  • Initiate and participate in studies and research projects
  • Develop and maintain sound relationships with the community, labor and professional groups in developing nursing programs and policies
  • Conduct and chair staff meetings and working committees with all levels of nursing personnel
  • Perform other duties, as needed

Qualification:

  • 4+ years of experience in a Nursing Administration and/or a related field
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license

Desired Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Leadership and/or Supervisory role
  • Master's Degree in Nursing Administration
