A health services network in New York City is currently seeking an experienced, licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their staff in the Bronx as their new Director of Nursing - Maternal-Child. In this role, the Director of Nursing - Maternal-Child will be responsible for organizing, directing, coordinating and evaluating the nursing service and nursing education programs of a healthcare setting or diagnostic and treatment center.Responsibilities:The Director of Nursing - Maternal-Child will:
- Develop, establish and implement the philosophy, objectives, policies and standards of the Nursing Department
- Organize the Nursing Department to delineate authority, functional responsibilities and lines of communication
- Determine staffing requirements in relation to patient care standards and develop procedures to maintain an adequate, competent nursing staff
- Maintain a system of continuing evaluation of nursing service provided for patients
- Maintain up-to-date policy procedure manuals for all nursing units and evaluates their effectiveness
- Establish an effective system of clinical and administrative nursing records and reports
- Direct the preparation of the personnel, equipment and supply budgets for the Nursing Department
- Direct the development and implementation of orientation, training and continuing education programs for nursing personnel
- Initiate and participate in studies and research projects
- Develop and maintain sound relationships with the community, labor and professional groups in developing nursing programs and policies
- Conduct and chair staff meetings and working committees with all levels of nursing personnel
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualification:
- 4+ years of experience in a Nursing Administration and/or a related field
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
Desired Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in a Leadership and/or Supervisory role
- Master's Degree in Nursing Administration
