Job Description Gpac is seeking an Animal Nutritionist to join one of our clients in the CPG/Pet Industry. This individual will hold an important role in continuing to produce quality pet food that consumers love. This company provides quality pet food and has been around for nearly a century, and we are looking for an individual that has the passion to help the company continue to provide products for pets to live happy lives. Responsibilities:
- Formulate tasty recipes for all of the company's brands while ensuring the right nutrients are incorporated into each product.
- Ensure all company standards and product requirements are met in each recipe.
- Assess current recipes and recommend improvements as needed.
- Research the effectiveness of dietary regimens to ensure our products are above industry standards.
- Maintain awareness of technical and scientific development in the pet food industry.
- Ensure necessary documentation is maintained to meet and substantiate product label compliance standards, feeding guidelines, statements of nutritional adequacy, and advertising and promotional claims.
- Coordinate with our VP, Procurement to ensure purchased ingredients meet the necessary nutritional requirements.
- Assist with our Consumer Affairs department on questions regarding the nutrients and recipes of our pet food brands.
- Ability to prepare and present results, both written and oral, to all levels of team members.
- Travel may occur up to 10%. Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Animal Nutrition
- 5+ years of experience in the field.
- Extensive knowledge of the scientific basis of animal (specifically dog and cat) nutrition.
- Experience in pet food formula design (dry food, wet food, treats, and canned food).
- Working knowledge of dry manufacturing processes and operations.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly as the pet food industry continues to evolve.
- Self-management and self-motivation.
