Position Overview:

The Director of Operations is a crucial member of the school leadership team, responsible for managing and executing the school's daily operations. This role supports the school's academic and operational goals through leadership in areas such as facilities management, compliance, and enrollment. The Director of Operations ensures that the school operates efficiently and adheres to all legal requirements and the terms of its charter.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in operations management, particularly in an educational or non-profit setting, and is passionate about supporting the school's mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership:

  • Oversee and manage daily school operations, collaborating with the Executive Director and Principal.
  • Lead the Operations Team to ensure the implementation of efficient processes and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with charter requirements, state regulations, and school policies.
  • Set school-wide operational systems and routines, ensuring adherence across all teams.
  • Coordinate parent communications to ensure clarity and consistency.
  • Supervise a team of full-time and part-time staff responsible for school operations.

Vendor Management:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with facilities vendors to ensure timely and efficient delivery of services and products.
  • Oversee contract negotiations, service level agreements, and performance metrics to ensure vendor compliance and satisfaction.

Landlord Relations:

  • Serve as the liaison between the school and landlords or their representatives.
  • Address and oversee the resolution of facility-related issues.
  • Manage maintenance requests and property improvements.

NYCDOE Coordination:

  • Act as the primary point of contact between the organization and NYCDOE staff overseeing school food, bussing, and other services.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration to ensure that operational needs align with educational objectives and compliance requirements.

Enrollment Management:

  • Lead efforts to manage student enrollment, including recruitment, application tracking, and lottery procedures.
  • Ensure accurate collection and maintenance of student data and compliance with state requirements.
  • Collaborate with families to ensure re-enrollment goals are met.

Building Management:

  • Ensure all safety protocols are in place, including mandated drills, inspections, and health regulations.
  • Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of school facilities, including trash removal and recycling.
  • Manage repairs and renovations as needed.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in operations management.
  • NYS Fingerprint Clearance.
  • Certification: W-07 and Food Handler
  • Experience working in a non-profit organization.
  • Proficiency with platforms such as ATS, PowerSchool, Schoolmint, Parent Square, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing teams and developing operational processes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Conversational Spanish is preferred.
