Position DescriptionDirector of Operations | Harbor ChurchesPosition Type: Full-TimePosition Grade: SalaryClassification: ExemptBudget Hours: Average 40 hours per weekReporting Relationship: Harbor Churches Directional Team, Ministry Teams, Harbor Churches All-Staff, HC Management Team, STR Operations TeamDescription: The Director of Operations will help people find their way back to God by ensuring the operational readiness of the church through leadership and oversight of Human Resources, Finances, Information Technology, Legal Matters, and Property management.Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership: Leads our Supporting Churches teamProvides leadership and coaching for our staff finance teamProvides leadership and coaching for our communication teamProvides leadership and coaching for our management teamHuman Resources: Directs and oversees all aspects of Human Resources for all staff members.Serve on the Human Resources Team and oversee salary and benefits administration for staff.Manages benefits coverage for all staff.Develops, maintains, and provides for staff policies and processes including but not limited to hiring processes, position descriptions, new staff assimilation, exit procedures, staff handbook, staff development, performance reviews, conflict resolution, and counseling.Provides input into staff organization changes and position development.Understanding of HR rules and regulations.Finance: Directs and oversees financial systems and health of the organization, in accordance with the Harbor Churches Policy Manual.Develops a multi-year and multi-campus financial strategy for sustainability.Directs and manages the annual budget process and provides counsel to the Senior Pastor and HC Board regarding financial matters.Oversee revenue, expenditures, including payroll, and contributions.Acts as signatory for check disbursement as necessary.Provide financial information along with the Finance Director to HC Board Treasurer.Provides input to the Directional Team regarding financial decision-making.Property/Risk Management: Directs and oversees property needs at existing and potential campuses.Works alongside the Directional Team and Finance Director regarding financial provisions for construction projects and property purchases.Assesses and manages appropriate insurance coverage for property, casualty, and other needs.Oversees Facilities Coordinator for Harbor Life, South Harbor, and Wyoming Harbor.Information Technology: Directs and oversees information technology, support, and equipment purchases.Provides IT support for key systems including database, financial management, and other shared digital resources.Oversees the training of staff to use the database.Provides for the management of telephone systems.Legal: Manages and oversees legal resourcing as needed.Reviews legal issues of the church and consults legal counsel when necessary.Serves as a communication link between Harbor Churches and attorneys in the development of legal documents and agreements.Provides support to the Directional Team and HC Board in the development and management of policies and legal documents.Skills & CharacteristicsProven ability to lead healthy teamsProven skill in Human ResourcingLove for the churchStrong interpersonal skillsAbility and passion for systems developmentCapacity for managing organizational change and growthEffectiveness in strategic planning and executionCritical thinker with excellent problem-solving skillsResults-oriented and consistent with follow-throughAbility to self-manageVocational, educational and/or at least five years of management experience is preferred.Every position at Harbor Churches plays an important role in carrying out the mission of helping people find their way back to God.
