Our client is one of the largest cannabis producers in the country and a top selling brand in California. This group is looking for a Director of Operations / Plant Manager to run the cannabis facility that Produces as high volume of packaged flower products, vapes, with a special focus on edibles production. This person must have experience in a manufacturing environment and cannabis experience is a must.
The Director of Operations oversees operational activities for all production departments in the site. They work with department managers to ensure effective labor management, product output, compliance, and safety. Additionally, the Director of Operations strategizes process improvements to ensure facility goals are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Creating and maintaining an atmosphere that promotes teamwork by providing support and encouragement to fellow staff members and employees
- Optimizing labor force efficiencies and ensuring a smooth and efficient employee workflow
- Working with the facility team to ensure all equipment is working properly and safely
- Working with managers to confirm daily tasks including harvesting, processing, quality control, packaging and inventory management are completed according to schedule.
- Ensuring compliant inventory records in Metrc/BioTrack. Owning the establishment of production and inventory plans to proactively manage, driving improved and sustainable processes.
- Working with the VP of Operations to establish objectives and track key performance indicators across the organization; ensure continued improvement in all balanced scorecard indicators with emphasis on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Cost and Culture
- Work closely with compliance team to ensure facility and staff understand and remain in full compliance with all laws, rules and regulations
- Work with production teams to plan, prioritize and execute key production goals and projects
- Communication of operational goals, deficiencies, and challenges to VP of Operations
- Make sure staff adheres to strict set of SOPs
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors and authorizing purchases and deliveries
Experience required
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in cannabis or manufacturing operations management
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with process management, budgets, P&L management
- Experience managing a large team (ideally 100+)
- Problem-solving mindset
- Inventory control experience
- Must be at least 21 years of age and authorized to work in the US
- Must be able to obtain a state medical marijuana badge and pass a background check
