DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Summary /Objective

Our Director of Operations leads the Warehouse/Order Fulfillment team, Global Logistics, and customer service department. Responsible for warehouse operations both wholly-owned and contracted, custom fabrication, and administrative system support. Works closely with the entire enterprise and is responsible for developing, executing, and monitoring strategic plans and programs, both short and long-term goals to support business initiatives and objectives of the organization. This includes but is not limited to, developing and implementing plans for the operational infrastructure in the form of policies, systems, processes, and staff development to improve the overall operations and effectiveness of the organization.

Position Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Warehouse Operations

  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize warehouse operations, including inventory management, order fulfillment, and space utilization.
  • Transform the multi-site Warehouse operations into a higher-performing entity that sets clear goals, obtains and measures results, and generates strong employee loyalty and performance.
  • Work with direct reports to set daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs that roll up into the overall company goals.
  • Ensure appropriate workforce levels are available to provide efficient operations.
  • Ensures the appropriate equipment allocation meets operational demands minimizing equipment downtime.
  • Ensure that leaders maintain safety and equipment standards necessary to ensure smooth operations and safe working conditions.
  • Perform periodic inspections and identify, communicate, and mitigate hazards and risks to prevent injury and implement tools and safety programs.
  • Participate in P&L reviews to ensure budgets are met and provide direction, development, and leadership to the Warehouse team.
  • Guide the team in prioritizing/executing multiple program objectives.
  • Foster engagement and consensus through regular meetings, collaboration, and other professionally sound methods.
  • Work closely with HR regarding employment and labor law, company policy, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a diversity and inclusion mindset acting as a role model for these behaviors and supporting the business' core values.

Global Logistics (International & Domestic)

  • Manage logistics activities such as transportation, freight forwarding, and customs clearance to ensure timely delivery of goods to customers worldwide.
  • Manage 3PL relationships and inventory
  • Monitor and manage budgets
  • Select carriers for transportation and negotiate rates and contracts
  • Order Maintenance

Customer Service Leadership

  • Lead the customer service team to deliver exceptional service and support to customers, resolving inquiries, issues, and complaints promptly.
  • Develop and implement customer service policies, procedures, and standards to ensure positive customer experience.
  • Analyze customer feedback and data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Identify opportunities to leverage and or redesign processes, tools, and technology to improve TYR operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as sales, marketing, and finance to align operational activities and overall business objectives.
  • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes to support company growth and profitability.
  • Partner with Accounting Manager to ensure fiscal decisions support the organization's transformation.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Ability to read and analyze and interpret technical procedures and government regulations & OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to write procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to work with routine, and or repetitive act ivies but also responsive to disruption and change.
  • Effective multi-tasking and organization. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Proven experience in operations management, with a focus on warehouse management, global logistics, and customer service.
  • Experience in international logistics, including import/export regulations, customs procedures, and freight forwarding. 8+ years managing middle management employees and their teams.
  • Experience with various WMS systems
