Job Type Full-timeDescriptionUnder the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Operations oversees all field employees, including Critical Care Nurses, Paramedics, EMTs, and other employees as assigned. Through a team of Operations Managers, they ensure employees have the resources and support needed to excel as valuable assets to the company. The Director of Operations is responsible, either directly or indirectly, for managing crew appearance, readiness, discipline, driving behavior, scheduling, morale, and maintaining office cleanliness and preparedness.This role requires strong interpersonal communication skills, the ability to mentor and supervise employees effectively, and a proactive approach to leadership. On a rotating basis, the Director of Operations serves as the primary point of contact for the Communications Center, addressing employee concerns related to policies or procedures, injuries, callouts, or interactions with facilities, patients, customers, and other employees. They must also coordinate responses to staffing shortages, including filling shifts or arranging for early or extended coverage to meet customer demands.The Director of Operations maintains open communication with their superior and ensures timely completion of tasks to keep the fleet operationally ready and employees equipped to perform their duties while exceeding customer expectations. When issues or deficiencies arise, they are responsible for developing and implementing a corrective action plan, communicating it effectively to all stakeholders, and ensuring its successful execution.RequirementsROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership and guidance to team members through communicating company initiatives, addressing, and resolving concerns, and providing all tools and resources needed to complete assignments in an efficient manner.
- Motivate, mentor and coach your team to ensure customer service, safety, and compliance standards are met. Effectively address issues or concerns promptly and use critical thinking skills to remove barriers or obstacles to achieving company goals.
- Collaborate with recruiting team to create job descriptions, hire competent personnel, implement staff evaluation parameters, and manage hiring needs and expectations.
- Ensure appropriate staff utilization and scheduling. Address gaps in scheduling immediately and work with the entire management team to use any and all available resources to resolve schedule gaps company wide.
- Payroll oversight in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Oversight of procurement and allocation of resources for all offices.
- Ensure vehicles are compliant with MIEMSS, DC DOH, and state motor vehicle requirements and laws. Routinely inspect vehicles for proper supplies, mechanical issues, registration, licensing, fuel, and insurance cards, road safety systems and cleanliness. Prepare vehicles for inspection.
- Ensure vehicles and equipment are functional, assigned, used and stored appropriately. Communicate any problems or out of service items appropriately and coordinate the repair/replacement promptly.
- Respond, investigate, and determine the root cause of vehicle accidents, employee injuries or other liability concerns to reduce and eliminate hazardous work conditions and reduce total company liabilities.
- Providing additional operational EMS coverage as needed in times of high demand or low coverage.
- Participation in daily and bi-weekly manger meetings, often in person attendance is required.
- Serve as the point of contact for Dispatch for any and all crew concerns.
- Participate in Administrator on Call schedule to ensure team members have access to leadership outside of normal business hours.
- Develop, maintain, and manage the organization's operational policies and procedures.
- Supervise current projects and coordinate all team members to keep workflow on track.
- Serve as a liaison to facilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Five years of multi-site leadership experience in a similar role.
- Graduation From High School or equivalent.
- 21 years old at time of hire for insurance purposes.
- Successful completion of NREMT certification.
- Current NREMT and State EMT (or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire).
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to drive company vehicles with a clean driving record.
- Successful completion of a state sponsored EVOS course or ability to obtain in 90 days.
- Current AHA BLS CPR or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to provide quality patient care within scope of practice.
- Knowledge of all state protocols for an EMT.
- Availability for recall in times of crisis.
- Ability to pass a lift test of 150 - 200 pounds.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
- Ability to speak and write English.
