The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, through its affiliation with New York City Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, is seeking a full-time Director for its Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department. Elmhurst Hospital Center is a 545-bed tertiary care facility and an ACS-verified level 1 trauma center in the ethnically diverse borough of Queens, NY.
The new Director will lead a team of oral and maxillofacial surgeons providing care in our oral and maxillofacial surgical clinics, inpatient units and addressing the clinical needs of the medical center and the community at large. Elmhurst Hospital is a major training site where the Director will supervise the residents, serve as a research mentor, oversee the administration of the department and ensure the program meets the needs of both the hospital, community and the residency program.
The Director will be responsible for the daily operations of the department, including administrative functions, staffing and credentialing. They will also be expected to develop clinical protocols and performance improvement initiatives.
Candidates must have a DDS or DMD degree and be board certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a valid New York State License, DEA and Medicaid number. Qualified candidates should have strong clinical abilities, teaching experience and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. There is opportunity for a faculty appointment with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, commensurate with credentials, experience and qualifications. We also offer a highly competitive compensation and benefits package including CME. Annual compensation is approximately $400,000.
