Director of Patient Accounting:
Position Summary:
Oversees Knoxville Business Office Services through subordinate managers, directing activities related to patient account receivables and maximizing reimbursement from third parties. Responsible for cashiering, customer service, billing, credit, and collections. Ensures efficient management of patient accounts, coordinating with hospital units and medical staff. Recommends policy changes to the VP of Patient Account Services and handles employee hiring and assignments.

Responsibilities:
- Integrity: Maintain departmental policies, quality assurance programs, and ensure internal controls are followed. Monitor payer relations and system integrity, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Quality: Collaborate with the management team to set goals and objectives for accounts receivable management. Analyze collections and AR results, identifying improvement opportunities. Handle complex issues and communicate with the VP and CFO.
- Customer Service: Implement procedural changes based on AR analysis, payer requirements, and customer needs. Address patient, physician, and management concerns professionally.
- Employee Development: Assess training needs and promote professional growth. Facilitate improvements in workflow and departmental effectiveness, holding regular performance meetings with managers.
- Resource Management: Manage annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources and staying current on technologies that enhance AR management.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience: At least 5 years in a hospital business office or similar setting, with knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payers.
- Licensure: None required.
