Job SummaryAs the Director of Patient Safety, you will advance a patient safety program that promotes a culture of safety and the elimination of avoidable harm. You will work to prevent future harm by initiating and overseeing proactive evaluation and redesign of systems to improve care processes.You will support improved outcomes by emphasizing both appropriate behaviors and robust systems that include concise accountability measures and follow upYou will reduce variation in care delivery by partnering with the patient safety organization to explore identified variations when appropriateYou will utilize alerts and best practices to perform gap assessments and implement strong actions that will alleviate identified gapsYou will effectively report, investigate, and analyze patient safety incidents, medical errors, and potential risks in the facilityYou will facilitate thorough and credible serious events analysis and failure mode analysisYou will perform patient safety rounds to identify patient safety risks and empower staff to identify and participate in resolution of patient safety concernsYou will coordinate disclosure of serious events to patients and/or familiesYou will champion completion of the Culture of Safety Survey and facilitate analysis of survey results to create data-driven action plansYou will support and encourage harm reporting throughout the organizationYou will provide feedback that acknowledges the value of event reporting and review of reported eventsYou will include patient safety in new hire orientation presentations and provide continuing ongoing education to leaders, clinicians and staffYou will partner with executive and clinical leaders to promote a culture of safety and compliance with national patient safety goalsYou will oversee the management and use of event information to benchmark and track progress to zero avoidable harm, and provide analysis and identify trends from reportsYou will work with legal counsel to coordinate the investigation, processing, and defense of claims against the facilityWhat qualifications you will need:ExperienceClinical leadership background required and experience should be recent and within An acute care settingMust have 5 yrs min years of healthcare experience in patient safety, risk, and/or quality - requiredEducationBachelor's degree in a healthcare related field REQUIREDMaster's degree in a healthcare related field - preferredLicenses and Certifications:Certification in Patient Safety (CPPS), or ability to obtain within 12 months of hireSkills and Certifications [note: bold skills and certification are required]Minimum education of BSNMust be licensed in the State of Texas or COMPACT nursing stateMust have a minimum of 5 years of healthcare exp in Patient Safety, Risk, and/or QualityMSN preferredMust have Certification in Patient Safety (CPPS) or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
