Position Statement
The Pharmacy Director is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective coordination of North Country Pharmacy operations that serve our critical access hospital, hospital retail customers as well as off site practices. The Pharmacy director will oversee the administrative tasks related to managing the pharmacy personnel as well as the strategic planning for future pharmacy efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Establishes and maintains strict controls and accountability for all medications stored in the hospital and dispensed or administered to patients.
* Maintains annual review of hospital's pharmacy formulary.
* Oversees 340B program management and compliance.
* Leads and oversees the antimicrobial stewardship program including running reports, appropriate tracking of antimicrobial use and interventions, investigating and educating on trends and deviations that are outside of standard best practices.
* Management and oversight of pharmaceuticals dispensed after hours.
* Management and oversight of perpetual inventory of controlled drugs.
* Participation, preparation, and presentation of materials for various committees (P&T, ITT, etc.)
* Participates in and implements quality improvement activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or bachelor's degree in pharmacy/hospital pharmacy administration. Must meet state requirements for pharmacist registration by the Vermont Board of Pharmacy.
* Minimum of three years' experience in a hospital pharmacy.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
* Computer competence required. Excel proficient required.
* Ability to follow NCH's standards of behavior.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to lead, direct and train employees in positive manner.
* Strategic logic to be able to properly plan and see initiatives through.
