Job Overview:
The Director of Production & Quality at United Roofing is responsible for overseeing and managing the entire production process, ensuring that roofing projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strategic planning, coordination, and leadership to drive efficiency and effectiveness across all production operations. The Production Director will work closely with cross-functional teams, including logistics, procurement, sales, and human resources, to ensure a streamlined operation that meets company objectives and customer expectations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strict quality standards. Strategic planning, team leadership, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional departments are critical to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership & Team Management
* Lead, mentor, and develop the production team, including Assistant Production Managers, Crew Supervisors, and on-the job staff.
* Foster a positive and productive work environment, encouraging collaboration and communication across departments.
* Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
* Production Planning & Coordination
* Develop and implement strategic production plans to meet company growth targets and improve operational efficiency.
* Coordinate with sales, logistics, and procurement teams to ensure seamless workflow and timely project execution.
* Monitor daily production schedules, adjust plans as needed, and communicate changes to relevant teams.
* Project Oversight & Quality Control
* Ensure all roofing projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to quality standards.
* Conduct regular site visits to assess project progress, address challenges, and ensure compliance with safety and quality regulations.
* Develop and enforce quality control measures to maintain high service standards and customer satisfaction.
* Budget Management & Cost Control
* Oversee the production budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation and operational efficiency.
* Analyze production costs and identify opportunities for savings without compromising quality.
* Collaborate with procurement to optimize material sourcing and supplier relationships.
* Process Improvement & Innovation
* Identify areas for operational improvement and implement strategies to enhance production processes.
* Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technological advancements to drive innovation in roofing production.
* Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in workflow, productivity, and safety.
* Safety & Compliance
* Ensure all production activities comply with OSHA standards, building codes, and company safety protocols.
* Implement and monitor safety programs and ensure that all team members adhere to safety guidelines.
* Investigate and address any safety incidents, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
* Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
* Regularly update leadership on production performance, challenges, and improvements.
* Prepare and present production reports, including KPIs, budget performance, and project status.
* Serve as the key point of contact for production-related inquiries, ensuring clear and effective communication with internal and external staff and customers
Qualifications & Skills:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
* Experience:
* Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in construction production, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role, preferably in the roofing or construction industry.
* Proven track record of managing large-scale projects and production teams.
* Skills:
* Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
* Proficiency in project management software and production planning tools.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
* Knowledge of safety regulations and quality control measures.
* Financial acumen and experience with budget management and cost control.
* Certifications: Relevant certifications in construction management or production are a plus.
* Physical Requirements: Ability to visit job sites and conduct physical inspections when necessary.
