This position leads the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the city's infrastructure, fostering a collaborative and motivated 69-member team. With a total annual budget of more than $20 million and a six-year adopted Capital Improvements Program of more than $190 million, the Director has a broad set of responsibilities, including sanitary and storm sewers, streets, multimodal transportation, public buildings, and services such as private development review, urban forestry, and solid waste management. A registered Professional Engineer in Virginia is preferred but not required.
