Tri Pointe Homes Orlando is looking for an innovative individual to join our talented group as a Director of Purchasing.

Position Highlights: This position will assist the Division President in all activities related to product design and development, value engineering, purchasing, and supply chain management.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire, evaluate, train, develop and retain productive and highly engaged purchasing department team members.
  • Develop positive, teamwork, and achievement-oriented work culture within purchasing team and between departments.
  • Models and reinforces actions consistent with the Companys values, vision, and culture in line with the core leadership competencies listed on the following page(s).
  • Ensures understanding and compliance with legal regulations, sales policies, internal control procedures, and practices.
  • Work with department leaders to develop an annual action plan to strengthen the effectiveness of the operation of each department and meet with them regularly to assess their progress.
  • Conduct reviews and provide performance feedback to all direct reports.
  • Provide support, direction, and leadership to team members and assist them with any questions or issues.
  • Monitor five-year strategic plan (land pipeline) to ensure the constant availability of land resources
  • Work closely with leadership to create and implement a strategic Division Business Plan
  • Work closely with Division President and Finance team in monitoring results of long-range and short-range business plans and ensure adherence to profit and loss minimum performance standards.
  • Monitor variance information and strategize with the department managers to identify and correct recurring or preventable problems
  • Identify and implement cost-saving techniques, materials, and procedures
  • Monitor overhead costs concerning total volume.
  • Assist with new procedures or system implementations.
  • Assist Division President with an evaluation of fixed overhead structures, and implementation of most cost-effective and efficient systems
  • Provide input on all departmental compensation issues
  • Coordinate and review the sales and starts-to-close process every month to achieve the business plan while ensuring consistent activity levels in all departments
  • Negotiate and resolve contract changes/issues and price change requests, including effective and good through dates. Communicate product and pricing changes to Construction, Sales, Customer Care, Design Studio, and other team members as appropriate.
  • Oversee quarterly purchasing meetings
  • Assist in determining accurate standard specifications and scopes of work for each trade
  • Develop relationships with subcontractors committed to reducing costs and increasing service
  • Direct division product development and architectural relationships with consultants
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of related experience is required; homebuilding purchasing experience is preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for high interaction with a variety of people inside and outside of the organization.
  • Persuasive attitude with strong negotiation, organizational and detail-oriented aptitude.
  • Strong PC skills required, with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook), Adobe Pro, and internet-based programs such as Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. Prior experience with Corrigo, Enterprise-One/JD Edwards, ShareFile, DocuSign, Envision, and Hyphen Solutions preferred.
