Position Summary: The Director of Real Estate Valuations is responsible for supporting the commercial lending function of Foresight Financial Group and its affiliate banks, through ordering and reviewing appraisal reports in conjunction with lending transactions. The Director of Real Estate Valuations works closely with affiliate banks' lending staff to manage the real estate valuation process, including the preparation of real estate evaluations. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Engages real estate appraisers to complete appraisal reports, on behalf of affiliate banks.
  • Reviews appraisal reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory and bank policy.
  • Completes real estate evaluations, including onsite inspections, as requested by affiliate banks.
  • Demonstrates required valuation skillsets in appraisal development, reporting, and/or review.
  • Assists affiliate banks in developing appraisal and evaluation policies.
  • Assists affiliate banks in maintaining approved appraiser lists.
  • Provides real estate valuation guidance, support and training to bank lending staff.

Competencies: Mathematical: General understanding of the numerical analysis required to assess appraisal development. Ability to calculate net operating income, capitalization rates, vacancy assumptions, square footage and all other mathematical measures needed to complete real estate evaluations. Valuation/Market Analysis: Review appraisals for accuracy, reasonable valuation assumptions, and adherence to regulatory requirements. Complete internal market evaluations of residential, commercial, and agricultural properties. Continually develop knowledge of market trends and property values in the Foresight Financial Group lending area. Project Management: Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently and within established timeframes. Must be capable of managing business relationships involving internal partners within the context of specific assignments. Communication: Ability to prepare reports in accordance with generally accepted business writing standards. Ability to communicate with various lending groups in a timely and effective manner. Ability to interact with integrity and a high level of professionalism with all levels of team members and management. Planning: Can establish a systematic course of action for self in order to accomplish objectives in an organized manner; determines priorities and allocates resources effectively. Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills including the ability to address situations by using a logical, systematic, sequential approach. Technical: Advanced comprehension of the appraisal and real estate valuation process. Fluency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). General knowledge of banking products, services, policies, procedures and regulations. Understanding of bank lending procedures, policies, and lending regulations (state and federal). Performance Standards: Meet appraisal review and real estate evaluation completion deadlines as established by Service Level Agreements between Foresight Financial Group and its affiliate banks. Meet standard appraisal review and real estate evaluation quality expectations. Performance Weightings: 40% Competencies 60% Position Performance Standards and Personal Goals Qualifications: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree preferred. Educational curriculum, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or be financial industry related. Must have a minimum of 1-3 years of related business experience (1-2 years of experience in a mortgage lending environment or appraisal firm preferred). Reasonable exposure or equivalent work related experience in the appraisal and real estate valuation process.
