Hires and supervises all staff in Rehab Department under headings of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech/Language Pathology. Holds the Rehab Department to the highest level of patient care, and documentation as required by state and federal guidelines. Is involved with the admissions process of prospective residents, and public relations with referring facilities and the community at large. Works closely with administration for the well-being of the facility and integrates interdepartmental needs regarding other disciplines and services.

JOB DUTIES:

1. Acts as a liaison between Administration and the Rehab Department.

2. Assists Administration in developing written policies and procedures and written job descriptions for the Rehab Department.

3. Completes weekly month-to-date reports (DOR weekly) as well as monthly reports (snapshot) according to the spreadsheet issued on desktop.

4. Attend Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) for fall program, and other as needed, and provides feedback/education.

5. Develops annual department goals.

6. Evaluates and hires (and discharges) new rehab, when necessary.

7. Advises administration concerning necessary capital expenditures and rehab equipment.

8. Submits the purchase of all supplies not capitalized.

9. Assures safe wheelchair components and positioning/skin integrity devices.

10. Maintains clean and clutter-free gym environment in accordance with infection control guidelines.

11. Evaluates all staff annually.

12. Attends all Department Head, Safety Committee, Care Plan, QAPI, Marketing and other meetings as needed.

13. Responsible for staff attendance record and payroll.

14. Holds department meetings weekly and keeps employees informed of all rules and polices regarding their job and its duties.

15. Reviews all documentation forms to assure that they are up to date with current practice standard.

16. Complete (4) audits monthly via the CMI chart readiness checklist chart audit tool on desktop.

17. Arranges for or gives both intradepartmental and interdepartmental in-services education and selects reference material.

18. Works closely with the Rehab staff to coordinate all treatments, care plans, vendors (prosthetists and orthotist), documentation, physiatry and audiology clinics, interdepartmental systems, and communications.

19. Maintains communication with modality equipment provider Accelerated Care Plus (ACP) for calibrations and in-services.

20. Establishes and reviews weekly/monthly QAPI audits for inter and intra departmental review of PT/OT/SLP.

21. Performs the treatment duties of a registered therapist.

22. Creates and attends various marketing meetings, both in the community and at Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation, for the purpose of recruiting appropriate residents to the facility.

23. Completes new staff orientation and training as required.

24. Performs all other duties as directed.

EDUCATION: Minimum of Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy or Post Graduate Certificate from an accredited school

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2-4 years previous experience as a therapist.

LICENSURE/REGISTRATION:

Must be licensed by the State of Delaware and biannually certified through Delaware Division of Professional Regulation
