Overview: This position will report into the Head of Policy and Risk Reporting in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). The ERM team is composed of Actuaries, CFA charter holders, and risk professionals and is tasked with, among other things:
- Identifying and Assessing Risks
- Developing and testing of the Company's Risk Appetite
- Developing and maintenance of the Company's Risk Management Framework
- Establishing risk tolerances, and Limits
- Risk monitoring; and internal and external risk reporting
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance Talcott's Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite Policy; Recommend updates to risk policies to ensure emerging risks and updates to Talcott's risk profile are captured
- Responsible for the development and implementation of Talcott's risk appetite stress testing framework and enterprise risk dashboards and lead discussions with senior leadership and risk committees
- Develop and implement risk management policies and strategies in compliance with applicable regulations, rating agency standards, and strategic objectives
- Develop and maintain an Enterprise level analytics / Key Risk Indicators associated with financial and non-financial risks to facilitate independent assessment and challenge.
- Oversee the reporting and monitoring of Talcott's current and stressed exposure in compliance with the Risk Appetite Statement and Risk Policies
- Coordinate with and maintain minimum standards for enterprise level risk committees. Manage the escalation reporting to senior management and the Board-level Risk Committees.
- Contribute to the maintenance of Talcott's overall Governance Risk & Control (GRC) platform, facilitating the efficient operation of control processes supporting model risk, operational risk, limit management and policy maintenance
- Oversee the continued improvement of risk management processes, tools, and practices
- Establish productive relationships with risk owners, ensure appropriate data-driven analysis supports decisions, and actively participate in risk forums
- Train and mentor staff on risk management procedures and protocols
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher; FSA or CFA designation preferred but not required
- 10+ years of experience required, with focus in risk is a plus
- Strong leadership and project management skills; ability to drive key initiatives within a small team and demonstrate strong execution capabilities
- Strong attention to detail and well organized; ability to prioritize, multi-task and work independently and well under aggressive deadlines while delivering superior outcomes
- Excellent analytical capabilities
- Strong communicator with excellent verbal, written and listening skills
- Quick learner and able to drive continuous improvement beyond own scope of responsibility; able to constructively challenge status quo
