Job Type Full-timeDescriptionThe Safety Director is responsible for overseeing and implementing safety programs and proceduresfor Palmer Bus Service, as well as Claims Management and Risk Management & Assessment. They willensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards and work closely withmanagement and staff to promote a culture of safety throughout the organization. The Safety Directorwill also be responsible for investigating & reporting any safety incidents or accidents and developing& delivering safety training programs for employees.RequirementsResponsibilities for the Director of Safety:It is essential that you be available, flexible, adaptable, and team-oriented, as you must be able tofulfill all the following requirements:1. Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs for Palmer Bus Service.2. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations and standards.3. Conduct regular safety inspections of vehicles, facilities, and equipment to identify andaddress any potential hazards or safety issues.4. Investigate and report safety incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement effectivesolutions to prevent future occurrences.5. Develop and deliver safety related training programs for employees, including: driver training,emergency response procedures, safe loading and unloading practices, and risk assessment.6. Maintain accurate records of all claims, incidents, safety inspections, job hazard assessments,and training activities.7. Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging safety trends and makerecommendations for continuous improvement.8. Collaborate with management and staff to promote a culture of safety and ensure that safetyis a top priority throughout the organization.9. Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns from employeesand regulatory agencies.10. Analyze incident reports, metrics, and injury case studies in order to institute changes thatlead to a safer environment.Qualifications for the Director of Safety:1. Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Transportation Management, or a relatedfield (is preferred).2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety management role (preferably in thetransportation industry).3. In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations and standards.4. Strong understanding of school bus operations and the unique safety considerationsassociated with transporting students.5. Possesses strong leadership skills to effectively guide and inspire the team towards a cultureof safety.6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train andeducate employees at all levels of the organization.7. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify and address safetyhazards and risks.8. Possesses strong crisis management skills and ability to coordinate appropriate responses.9. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple prioritiesand deadlines.10. Has experience working closely with insurance agents in organizing and maintaining claims.11. Has the ability to work independently in order to maintain accurate and current records inaccordance with guidelines.12. Has a strong understanding of risk management principles and is able to develop strategies tomitigate potential risks.13. Familiarity with safety related technologies, telematics systems and driver monitoring tools.14. Has a mindset of continuous improvement and a passion for safety.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesSpecific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the jobinclude: ?
