SUMMARYThe Director of Safety monitors all aspects of the safety system and acts with the authority of the Accountable Executive in all matters regarding safety, and as such, can designate any delegated resources to accomplish Billings Flying Service's stated safety objectives. The Director of Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs for aviation operations. They ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, conduct risk assessments, and foster a culture of safety throughout the organization.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO): Maintain and update safety documentation and publications. Review and update the Billings Flying Service risk profile. Develop safety objectives for the Accountable Executive consideration. Develop and implement the Emergency Response Program. Monitor Billings Flying Service's SMS performance and create performance reports for other managers and the Accountable Executive, as directed. Facilitate hazard identification and risk management. Determine the need for and coordinate the development of required safety training materials prescribed by national, state, and local laws and regulations or industry best practices. Evaluate employee hazard identifications for risk and recommend action. Receive, evaluate, and process all employee hazard reports and recommend action to mitigate risk. Coordinate all safety activities and act as a liaison between Billings Flying Service and ARGUS as well as applicable governmental agencies and insurance carriers. Monitoring safety concerns in the aviation industry and their perceived impact on Billings Flying Service's operations. Monitor employee training programs to ensure that safety, health, and environmental information presented is current and satisfies applicable government rules and meets the company's needs. Manage the SMS Internal Evaluation Program (IEP) and conduct field audits. Conducting incident and accident investigations. Organizing and conducting safety committee meetings; and forecasting necessary budget items to support the organization's safety objectives. RequirementsSKILLS AND ABILITIES (MINIMUM) Proven experience leading teams, managing contractors, and assigning tasks to personnel. Must have a passion for Safety Management Systems. Desire to protect people and property. Must be personable and able to communicate with multiple personality types. Ability to recognize safety related needs and create policy around them. Must submit to and be capable of passing a required drug test. Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and tasks. Able and willing to travel to support aircraft. Willingness to work long and sometimes irregular hours. Have excellent interpersonal and management abilities. Full understanding of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices. Takes responsibility for individual and team actions, decisions, and results. Ability to work under minimal supervision, exercise independent judgment, discretions, and initiative. Proven ability to set priorities, communicate objectives and meet deadlines. Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills. Ability to motivate others around safety initiatives. Willingness to learn new concepts and understand existing processes and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS 10 years' experience in aviation operations. 3 years' experience in aviation safety (SMS). 5 years' experience as a commercial pilot (preferred). 5 years' experience as an aircraft technician (preferred). Experience with contracts preferred. Experience with Auditing preferred. Strong conflict resolution skills. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and teams. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. IS-BAO Program Management (preferred).
