Job Description:

Responsibilities and DutiesProvide strong leadership to 2000+ Steel Technologies teammates who are working towards a goal of Zero Incidents.Coach, mentor, and develop a team of diverse and experienced safety professionals and leaders.Provide strategy and oversight of local safety technicians.Establish high quality relationships with site and department leadership and top management.Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote awareness of initiatives.Develop strategic plans in collaboration with plant leadership and in alignment with organizational goals, values, and industry best practices.Develop safety policies and procedures (ergonomics, 6S, illness and injury prevention, and building safety) including those pertaining to hazardous materials and work areas.Drive safety performance to support Key Performance Indicators in line with business expectations.Identify and mitigate safety-related risks that could impact the organization's reputation and long-term viability.Coordinate safety monitoring with risk management insurance provider.Establish metrics and frameworks to assess and communicate the organization's safety performance and impact.Collaborate with various departments to embed safety considerations into business processes, supply chain management, and investment decisions.Stay updated on safety trends, standards, and best practices, and drive thought leadership within the organization and the industry.Provide oversight for incident investigations, development of corrective plans and follow-up actions to prevent recurrence, ensuring that the correct Root Cause is identified.Provide the leadership and direction and monitor performance to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, standards and reporting requirements.Educational and Experience RequirementsBS in occupational health or engineering, MS, MBA, and/or CSP preferred.10+ years of experience in occupational health and environmental safety in a manufacturing environment.5+ Years' experience as site Safety Manager in manufacturing environment.Experience in administering and auditing core critical safety programs (i.e., LOTO, fall protection) and hands-on experience in managing and/or auditing industrial factories.Understanding of sustainability and environmental management practices.Familiarity with impact measurement methodologies and reporting frameworks.Proficiency in data analysis and ability to derive insights from safety-related metrics.Experience in safety risk management and integration into investment strategies.Strong project management skills to drive safety initiatives across the organization.Ability to conduct stakeholder engagement and manage relationships with investors, NGOs, and regulators.Proficient in safety reporting tools and software.Required QualificationsStrong leadership skills and ability to affect change in an organization.Proven history of successfully building, coaching, developing and leading teams.Strategic thinker with creative problem solving and decision-making skills.Resilient self-starter, who can act independently and learn quickly within a rapidly evolving environment.Excellent communicator (both verbal and written) with strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience managing remote and/or global teams.
