Job Description Division/Unit: Investigation Bureau Civil Service Title: Chief Investigating Accountant Position Title: Director of Security Salary Range: $100,000 - $125,000 Job Description: The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an opening for a Director of Security in its Investigation Bureau. In this position, with latitude for independent judgment and initiative, the Director is responsible for supervising and providing physical security, safety, and maintenance of order in the Office. This is a sworn police officer position. The candidate must meet all qualifications to be certified as a police officer on the NYS DCJS Police registry. This position requires you have successfully completed police academy training in New York State, and you are required to pass a mandatory background check to carry a firearm. Reporting to the Chief and Assistant Chief, the Director will oversee all security measures at DANY. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Oversees the day-to-day operations and management of unit responsible for the safety and security of DANY's employees, visitors, and the Office's facilities and inventories.
- Supervises, works with, approves weekly timesheets, and evaluates the performance of security staff. Prepares the unit's daily work schedule and post assignments. Directly manages supervisory staff in accordance with standing orders.
- Participates in the formulation of the Office's security policies and procedures. Acts as principal adviser to the Office's executive management and program heads on security issues.
- Develops and implements new security systems and methods as required.
- Coordinates operations with the New York City Police Department and other law enforcement agencies as required. Works directly with the NYC Police Department in developing and implementing procedures concerning deputization, processing of arrests, warrants and other related matters.
- Works on special projects and tasks as assigned.
Preferred Requirements/Skills:
- Former law enforcement officers with supervisory experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Must be able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task.
- Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Ability to interact with all levels of staff and collaborate with other law enforcement agencies.
- Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
- Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with staff in a team-oriented environment.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- This position requires operation of a motor vehicle.

Additional Information:
- Current office employees: To be eligible for a transfer or promotion, staff must have already served at least 1 year in their current unit/bureau/department and be in good standing. In addition, must meet the minimum and additional qualifications of the position.
- Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in law enforcement, security management, or a related field, with at least five (5) years in a supervisory role managing a police unit.
- Firearms qualification required.
- Must possess a valid certificate of completion from a New York State Basic Course for Police Officers academy or must be eligible to attend and successfully complete a Police Officer Refresher course.
- Must pass a medical exam, drug test, psychological screening, and an intensive background check.

Residency Requirement:
- U.S. citizenship and residency are required. You must also have a valid New York driver license and live in one of the city's five boroughs or Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, Westchester, Putnam or Orange at the time of appointment.
