Job Description:
BASIC PURPOSE: Part-time (0.5 FTE) 12-month Professor of Practice in the PA Program and School of Health Professions responsible for overseeing all aspects of PA Program Medical Simulation Center, including all related hardware, software, and high-fidelity simulators, specialized simulation rooms, and Cardiovascular Lab; the PA Clinical Lab; Harvey Manikin Cardiopulmonary Simulator; and Anatomage Table. The Director of Simulation and Facility will collaborate with PA faculty and staff regarding curriculum development and implementation and will also oversee the optimal operation of all aspects of the PA Program Medical Simulation Center and related facilities.ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Supports the technological aspects of realistic, highly complex clinical patient care scenarios using simulation hardware and software.
  • Implements simulation scenarios in collaboration with PA program faculty.
  • Ensures simulation, clinical skills, and physical diagnosis laboratory equipment and supplies are well maintained and in working order.
  • Collaborates with the PA program faculty and staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Director or PA faculty.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have completed education/training in one of the following related fields: medical simulation fellowship, healthcare simulation, healthcare simulation education, technology, health sciences, or other relevant and appropriate area of study.
  • Must possess a Master's Degree or higher.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience working with medical simulation.
  • Must have expertise working with high-fidelity simulators and associated hardware and software, Harvey Manikin Cardiopulmonary Simulator, and Anatomage Table.
  • Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University, as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience teaching in a PA program or medical school.
  • Experience teaching in a PA program or medical school using medical simulation.
  • Physician Assistant, and if a PA, must possess and maintain NCCPA certification and maintain and active state license to practice as a physician assistant.
  • Physician (MD or DO) with completed fellowship in medical simulation.
OTHER DUTIES:
  • Participates in lab, small group, and simulation activities as indicated.
  • Participates in University events as a representative of the PA Program and the School of Health Professions.
  • Participates in events external to the Program that increase awareness and reputation of the PA Program.
