Job Overview and Description

As a Social Worker for the Boys and Girls Club of Harlem, Inc., you will play a critical role in providing support and guidance to students, families, and staff at the designated CS. School Social Worker Responsibilities & Duties

· Provide individual and group counseling to students.

· Develop and implement intervention strategies to address social, emotional, and behavioral issues.

· Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to create comprehensive support plans for students.

· Conduct assessments to identify students' needs and appropriate services.

· Facilitate communication between the school and students' families to ensure cohesive support.

· Coordinate with external agencies and community resources to provide additional services to students.

· Offer crisis intervention as needed, addressing urgent mental health or safety concerns.

· Create and lead workshops or training sessions for students, staff, and parents.

· Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.

· Advocate for students' rights and needs within the school system.

· Promote attendance and engagement through targeted interventions.

· Address issues related to bullying, substance abuse, and other challenges affecting student well-being.

· Supervise assigned social work interns as the task supervisor.

School Social Worker Qualifications & Skills

· Master's degree in Social Work or related field.

· State certification or licensure as a School Social Worker.

· Experience working in an educational setting.

· Knowledge of school policies, procedures, and educational laws.

· Strong understanding of child and adolescent development.

· Familiarity with common social, emotional, and behavioral challenges faced by students.

· Proficiency in crisis intervention techniques.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Previous experience in a school or youth-focused setting.

· Strong assessment and evaluation skills.

· Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders.

· Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in practice.

Educational Requirements

· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field.

· State licensure or certification in social work.
