Job Goal: To provide leadership, coordination, and supervision of the district's Special Education programs, related services, and preschool programs. The district is seeking a Director of Special Services, and candidates may apply for either an interim or permanent role. The interim candidate will temporarily fulfill the responsibilities of the position while the district continues its search for a permanent hire. However, candidates for the permanent position are also welcome to apply. Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all special education programs within the district, PreK-12
- Develop and assess special education programs and preschool programs, curriculum, and teaching practices.
- Establish and manage procedures for placing students in special education programs.
- Conduct classroom observations and evaluate Special Education teachers, non-certified staff, related personnel and others as needed.
- Collaborate with public and private agencies to provide services for students.
- Supervise and oversee the district's Child Study Team and related activities.
- Participate in hiring and training personnel for special education programs.
- Keep current with special education research and best practices to enhance curriculum development.
- Develop and manage the budget for special education and preschool programs.
- Supervise and evaluate district nursing staff and related services.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal mandates regarding student and staff health policies.
- And additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Terms of Employment:
- Twelve-month position
- Reports to the Superintendent of Schools
- Salary and benefits will be in accordance with the negotiated agreement with the Administration Association.
