Director of Studio Design

Unleaded is looking for a Director of Studio Design to lead a talented team of designers and production artists by providing technical as well as aesthetic oversight, originating systems and processes for Studio workflows, and liaising with cross-disciplinary leaders to establish Studio best practices. You will ensure that all design work is technically sound and correctly optimized for various mediums digital and print before release. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills–preferably with an established track record of managing a Studio or Production department–as well as a solid understanding of design principles, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role will also work closely with Project Management to oversee the status of all projects and ensure timely delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the design team to ensure that all work is optimized for different mediums
• Manage the status of all design projects and ensure they are moving at a pace that will meet deadlines
• Collaborate with team members to understand project needs, mandatories, and specs
• Review and approve the mechanicalization of files before release
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to provide project updates
• Collaborate with external vendors for design-related projects as needed
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure that all design work follows a structured process and timeline to deliver high-quality solutions on time.
• Maintain effective flow of information to the team to ensure the team members are aligned with project objectives.
• Provide regular reviews and feedback on the team's technical work in a clear and constructive manner.
• Provide guidance and feedback to the department to ensure that the final production meets the highest standards of quality and creativity.
• Encourage creativity, engagement, and professional growth from all team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or Associate's degree in art, design, or related field
• 15+ years of design experience with examples of work with major brands
• Positive attitude, the desire and ability to manage workflows
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
• Knowledge of design principles and best practices for different mediums
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong project management and time management skills.
• Previous experience managing a team of designers or creative professionals
• A portfolio demonstrating the effective use of design across an array of mediums
• Self-motivated and proactive
• A genuine team player
