Job Description Hybrid: Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely. We are seeking an experienced Subcontracts Director to lead and guide a geographically dispersed team of Subcontracts Manager and Subcontract Program Manger professionals within our Adaptive Communications & Sensing (AC&S) Product Line. This role is highly visible and will have direct engagement with functional, product line and business area leadership. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in procurement and subcontracts and act as the interface to the product area, consulting on contractual matters, subcontracting strategies, internal and external audits, and ensuring compliant proposals. This individual is accountable for the technical, financial, schedule and quality performance of all subcontractor activities, as well as the proactive coordination of the internal team support necessary for subcontractor success. This role is responsible for identifying opportunities and developing strategies to reduce risk and drive long-term affordability for AC&S and will report to the AC&S Supply Chain Director. Talent development and training management will be a major focus for this leader by planning, developing, and executing training and development plans for their team, while also evaluating and maintaining the appropriate staffing to support the subcontract requirements of the product line. - Establish, maintain, and foster relationships and communications between BAE Systems and subcontractors.
- Negotiate with suppliers, creating win-win solutions with a “make it happen” attitude.
- Lead and facilitate Subcontract Management Reviews, technical meetings, subcontractor partner assessments and audits.
- Drive Supplier quality and delivery accountability and ensure quick resolution of technical and programmatic issues with our subcontract partners and.
- Earn and maintain confidence of Program Offices to become a trusted business partner, working closely with Contracts, Finance, Engineering, Program Managers, and other adjacent organizations.
- Develop and implementing organizational changes as required to meet an ever dynamic changing environment.
- Identifying and assessing risks & opportunities.
- Support material sales forecasting and drive performance to operating plans.
- Support planning, execution and reporting of subcontract material and labor budgets, and estimate at completion (EAC) inputs.
- Work closely with Operations Proposal Group to develop subcontractor strategies including packaging work and negotiating to support the price to win.
- Provide vision and leadership to department employees.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills Below are the responsibilities which occupy a major portion of time and importance in the role. Responsibilities may shift with business needs, but include the following:
- A bachelor's degree and 12 years or more supply chain management experience preferably in Aerospace & Defense, or an associate degree and 14 years or more of supply chain management experience in Aerospace & Defense.
- Experience leading Subcontracts or Procurement teams with demonstrated ability to mentor and develop high performance work teams.
- Experience in successfully generating and executing complex subcontracts.
- Ability to conduct effective meetings with personnel and facilitate meetings with suppliers/subcontractors.
- Work developing strategies to support affordability initiatives.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Ability to present dynamically to internal and external stakeholders.
- Time management/organization skills are critical in this role.
- Knowledge of FAR and DFAR regulations and the nature of flow down requirements.
- Comprehensive understanding of subcontractor solicitations and bid analysis/process.
- Strong working experience generating, negotiating and executing major subcontracts/purchases with proven track record with resolving contractual conflicts with subcontractors through negotiations and contractual vehicles.
- Ability to effectively relate with others and cooperate as a team member.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organization including subcontract suppliers.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills - Master's Degree and a combination of 12 years of Operations / Supply Chain / Program Management Experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in aerospace industry and government contracting.
- Willingness and desire for continuous improvement.
- Secret clearance or secret eligible.
- Contracts / Legal background
- Knowledge of ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulation) and EAR (Export Administration Regulation)
- Experience with AS9145 and the requirements for Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
- Professional certifications (PMP, C.P.M., C.P.S.M.)
- Experience with an Oracle ERP system.
- Earned Value Management and Cost Analysis experience
- Experience leading dual sourcing as well as make vs buy manufacturing plans
- Lean and Six-Sigma certified from an accredited source and/or proficiency with continuous process improvement methodologies and tools.
- Proficiency in office technologies including MS Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $128100 - $217800 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
